Maybe it's the earth ablaze with wars, poverty, famine, hate, fear, a place were the sun don't shine any more.

Yep, that's the sun alright. Wrong again. Sorry for seeing the dark side of things. I guess it's all the negative energy I get when I turn on the TV. Just having one of those dark days. So happy to see you all with a positive outlook. Ain't we lucky we have Majicat to lift our spirits. Thanks.

Don't be so hard on yourself down under. I think we are all right. It's definitley the Sun and more precisely an X-ray. Very good Suncatcher! I think it also could express the things you are sayin as well downunder. But it is the Sun, so it can't be all bad. It is also a very attractive option for an album cover. It has nice color symmetry and a mixed meaning. Perfect for Yusuf.

Looks like the Sun up close. That's exactly what it is. I've been checking out photos of that nature for years via the Solar & Heliospheric Observatory [SOHO] website. Their archives are full of amazing shots of the sun. The website is: sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/realtime-images.htmljoni...

Good catch! I didn't even notice that. I just posted about it to see if anyone else will have any theories on what it might mean. Fun little tease!

The 24th solar cycle has begun - finally. They don't know how strong it will be but it will peak around 2011-02012. Depending on the number of Coronal Mass Ejections at the peak (CME) it could knock out power grids, satellites, ATM's, etc and here in California we usually get El Nino storms. Should be interesting, especially if you consider Mayan prophecy. www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2008/20080104_sunspot.html

Thanks for the link Sue, very interesting information. If the Mayan prophecy has some credibility, it means doomsday is coming. The year 2012 is that year. And I was thinking of visitng London that year to witness the Olympic Games opening ceromony. Mother nature will be preparing her own fire works for us.

I don' t know about Doomsday! The Mayan calendar did not account for leap year. It's also a very complicated calendar. Fascinating, though all the speculation about solar cycle 24. www.physorg.com/news66581392.html

Sue, I watched a documentary on this last summer on Nat Geo or History, very interesting, even scary.

I was browsing the net to find more info on the 'Apocalypse', and I found a book by Lawrence E. Joseph, called 'Apocalypse 2012'. The US edition had the same image of the sun on the cover, that YI had on his home page. I wonder if YI has read the same book?

Thanks Christine, it is fascinating, but what a way to start the week. I remember way back, they said the year 2000 was going to be end of the world. They were wrong. So I try not to let these prophecies scare me. I prefer to believe they will be wrong again. Some are really cashing in on making people believe in these prophecies. Anyway, I think we are all to busy with everyday living, current problems and when YI's album will be released , to worry about what might happen.

If you wish to scare yourself... watch the history station this week... History - Armagedden WeekI'm with you Christine. I've been riveted to these shows all week long. Scaring myself! Fascinating though. Especially the prospect of a pole shift and the loss of the earth's shielding magnetic field. Very scary, that. But much like when driving past a gruesome accident, it's hard for me to resist looking. If nothing else, these programs on The History Channel have been very well written and produced. Nevertheless, a few nights back, after watching a particularly depressing series of shows, I actually found comfort in the fact that ONE of the shows closed with a tiny alternative perspective: the hypothesis that perhaps the 2012 doomsday prediction (including the "blank book of life", for instance) is meant NOT to be interpreted literally as a planet devoid of life, but metaphorically -- as a clean slate - a chance for humanity to start over... to make good. Or it could mean a new "race" takes over. And THAT's scary coz it's something that hasn't happened in .. what... 26,000 years? I think they said something like the last time such a shift occurred we graduated from Neanderthal Man to Cro Magnon man. Very interesting about Yusuf's website. I think the sun's been having a very quiet period for the last 15 years (if I heard right) -- which is abnormal. (ie., not much flare, spot activity, etc.) It's also scary that if something happens to our magnetic field we could lose all modern-day communication! We'd go back to living entirely local lives, very basic! This topic needs a whole thread of its own, that's for sure!

P.S. Can't remember whose prediction it was (maybe Nostradamus') that just before the end of days the Earth would be covered by a giant "web". Hmmmm.....
