Thanks Colleen, it was great reading that Yusuf is in the USA. Kansas City seems to have a great deal of respect for Yusuf. I remember a few years back when they wrote a nice piece on him in their Kansas City Star newspaper.

This is fantastic!! I sure hope word gets around that Yusuf is invited back to Florida, ANYTIME!! Hopefully, he can be invited to the University of Florida, here in Gainesville! I might do some investigating as to where the Islamic Community Center is, and find out who I need to ask to extend an invitation!! Hey, maybe it will coincide with my hopefully soon to be hosted Cat Fest!!

We should start a variation of "Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego" and change 'Carmen' to 'Yusuf'. He's everywhere. Hey Yusuf, come to Columbus, Ohio again. I missed you the last time you were here by a couple of days. I am glad that he is coming to the States. I was afraid he would not lecture her with all this violence in the world in the last couple of years. Love, A'isha

Salaam alaykom and greetings,
Believe it or not, boys and berries, but my husband previously resided in the Greater Kansas City area.
After reading Colleen's alert, I called his American brother friend there to tell him the news, whereupon he promptly dropped everything and went to the ISNA convention.
I told him to introduce himself to Br Y and give him greetings.
Insha'Allah we will get a first-hand report in the next day or so. I didn't think to tell him to take a camera, however Br Y is there both Saturday and Sunday.
I believe that there is no such thing as coincidence.
Peace, kareema

Salaam alaykom and greetings,
Well, the friend went to the convention, however he did not see Br Y since the tickets for the luncheon were sold out.
It was a good try.

Has anyone seen any online news items regarding the conference? I've had no luck as yet. Not much on the Kansas City Star's website, even. (I was hoping for a new pic or two. ) -Joanne

Did anyone get to see him in Kansas City? I wonder why he didn't tell about this event in advance. I guess the tickets were all sold, ...but he could have had more classes or extended the size of the auditorium. I just wish he would have let us know about it. Does anyone know why he kept this quiet until the very day of the event? Gee, Yusuf, wouldn't ya like to have your fans jumping up and down screaming out your name? (I'm really just kidding. I know that he's not wanting that kind of attention. He's sweet. ) But, we sure would have liked to have had the opportunity to meet him. Faithfullight

Faithful, we all joke about screaming his name and such, but those Islamic conferences would not permit such outbursts. I think I would be too dumbfounded at seeing Yusuf in the flesh that I would be fairly composed.
I think that the man is just too busy to stop sometimes to inform us about what is happening. I swear the man will be in Africa on Monday and Canada on Thursday. I still think we should start a game called, "Where In The World Is Yusuf Islam".
About the Islamic conferences, many times they start advertising through mail and at mosques soliciting people to make reservations a few months ahead of time. I got a few invitations to some of them, but never had the cash to go. Some of them can run up to $150 a weekend, including meals and lodging. They are very big affairs with many speakers and activities. I have always wanted to attend one. My friend went to one and said she had a great time, but Yusuf wasn't at that one. :*(

A'isha is right! We often joke about screaming his name, like many of us did in his days of Cat, but would never actually do that! Now, I do wish more notice would be given at Yusuf's lectures, but I think probably the reason it isn't, is because of precautionary measures they are taking these days!
