Faithfullight, Try going to www.yusufislam.org.uk and taking the link from there. Or go to www.kcur.org/ Go to programming. Sometimes that works better. Yusuf and the host seem to enjoy each other. There is some talk of his kids. And not near enough about education. I hope ISNA posts the lectures. Turan

I clicked on Yusuf's link, and it tries to bring up Sonicstage and then says there is an unspecified error. I tried to open the link within that program and it still doesn't work. What program does your computer allow you to listen? Then, I brought up realplayer, but that didn't work for me either. Waaaah!

Your not alone Faith, I couldn't open it either. I tired going in both ways Turan mentioned. Oh well. Maybe I will check out my sisters computer tonight if it works on hers.
So Mohammad has a guitar? That is interesting to hear.

It plays on windows media player for me.
Yep, Mohhamad plays guitar. Let me see, one daughter helps run the family business, one is in school studying linguistics, one is studying graphic design and photography, youngest is still in school. Son needs a job.
There are some lines that made me laugh really hard.

Thanks for the link Turan. Windows Media Player played mine too. If you have problems you might need to upgrade your media player. I think you can do this at Microsoft.com....
I thought the interview was great, when I finally succeeded in hearing it. My husband kept getting calls so I kept having to go offline. It is funny that he mentioned his kids' 'attributes' because we were discussing his kids at dinner yesterday. I told Mary, "Hansanah has the business head, Asmaa is the writer, Maymanah is the photographer and Amina is the artist (she did a lot of the Boxed Set art). So if they covered all those talents then Muhammad must be the musician." LOLOLOL We were right. It is so amazing that each of Yusuf's kids possess one of his talents. Yes, Cat use to dabble around with a camera too and he has good business sense. Talk about great genes...LOLOLOL And we haven't even covered their mother's attributes. I bet she is quite talented too.
Yusuf's sense-of-humor makes me laugh, he has a sweet sense-of-humor which makes his interviews delightful.
Love, A'isha

I was able to listen to the interview this evening and have to say, that it has to be one of the most enjoyable interviews, I have hear in a long time. Yusuf seemed to be enjoying himself, as did Emanuel Cleaver. It was a fun interview and caught myself laughing a few times.
I loved Yusuf reference to his child hood to My Fat Greek Wedding with an added touch because of his Swedish baptist mother.

I'm going to keep trying. I'm not so skilled in these computer programs with linking or downloading sounds. Maybe I'm not doing something right. The interview sounds as though it must be wonderful. I'm glad you were able to hear it. But I want to hear it too! Faithfullight

It worked, it worked, it worked!I just listened to it and Yusuf does sound happy. It makes me feel good to hear him sound happy. It was a good interview and I could listen to him all day. I wish he would say more. I wish he would explain in more detail what people misinterpret about Islam. Peace, Faithfullight

Someone at the US site once said that he saw Yusuf and Muhammad in London's Central Mosque and he said that the Mohammad looked a lot like the kid on the "Remember" album but older. The kid on "Remember" isn't Muhammad though, but a student in one of Yusuf's schools.

I just listened to the interview and it is really delightful. Yusuf does sound so relaxed and happy. There is some lovely humour mixed in with more serious issues. My favourite line from Yusuf is something he quoted, it went like this..... "if the father plays guitar the family will dance". Thank you for posting the link!

I am just glad that they stuck with issues that are important to Yusuf, instead of bringing in those which have been a thorn in his side!

Mr. Cleaver: Are any of your children musically inclined? Yusuf: My son has a guitar Mr. Cleaver: Can he play? Yusuf: He can
Notice how Yusuf practically speaks in the same breath as Mr. Cleaver? Like he couldn't WAIT to be asked.
Sounds a little like a new Yusuf.... (I bet he jams with Mohammed all the time). (Mohammed's probably teaching him new licks).

I am so thrilled that Yusuf sees that music isn't bad. Music can be used for good and to glorify God. (Just as words can be used to do either harm or good.) God is pleased when we praise Him and show thankfulness for the life we were given. Wouldn't it be wonderful to watch Yusuf's son playing guitar. I can just imagine the joy of Yusuf's face while he helps his son with guitar lessons and singing. He should tape a few sessions. Oh, I bet he already has! Maybe one day, his son will have a song with a few clips of Yusuf teaching him. Dreaming, just dreaming. Faithfullight

I have a question...Yusuf says he no longer plays guitar, but what about keyboards. I was listening to the cd "I Have No Cannons That Roar" and this one song on it, "I Am A Son Of Yours" by Senad Podojak has some wonderful piano in it. I looked in the CD but did not find the pianist's name. Could it be Yusuf? I have never heard him say that he doesn't go to the piano anymore.

A'isha, It would be extremely difficult to write songs without a piano and Yusuf does continue to write songs. Who knows?

Getting closer Just re-installed WMP and now I can get it to open But my connection speed isn't high enough so it keeps cutting out... I tried to adjust the buffering, but no luck yet Ahh well, maybe later ... At least I accomplished cleaning out some junk on this computer while I was at it

Hummingbird, I had the same problem with it cutting out every other minute. It drove me nuts to hear half a sentence and then it stopped and I had to wait over and over again to hear a complete sentence. But the second time I played it, it was smooth. Try it again! Maybe the next try will work smoother. Faithfullight

Some are finding it works if not logged on to AOL. I suppose if speed thing is a problem the middle of the night is the time to listen?

Turan, late at night or early in the morning always makes online audio better for me.
It irks me to no end when the sound cuts out and omits words.
