What gives KMEL the right to decide what to ban from the radio? I hope that this means that this ban only reflects only what they play on this station (KMEL). Does this mean that other stations follow these guidelines? Surely not!

I don't get the ban on "Peace Train" and "Imagine"....I think that is totally ridiculous. You know, they can ban "PT" but leave some of the most offensive caca on the radio...songs that are racist, full of explicit sex and foul language. I don't get it, do you?

I don't get it either! Peace Train is a wonderful song about getting along together. Why in the world would they ban it? And "Imagine" is also a beautiful song. People fight about religion, and those who ban this song aren't looking at what he's trying to say. He was trying to remove barriers that people fight over. He was wanting people to live in peace. Religion wasn't given to bring animosity between people. People just don't understand God's guidance.

kim posted on cs.com about this legislation that essentially is knocking us down to six sources of news information. if you are concerned about censorship, you should write your congressman or something. this is a very dangerous step our country is taking, IMHO

But I've given up trying to understand pop culture nowadays. If you listen to some of the "songs" that the public *does* want to hear lately, I think you'll be delighted that Cat's tunes aren't in their company. It's all a matter of taste and even though good taste is subjective, the world is currently in a slump! As for the Flaming Lips, I think they're actually pretty good which means they probably won't gain much mainstream popularity. The Fight Test song, however, is just OK... I find it funny how the band's lead singer practically begs for a lawsuit, blatantly admiting that it does sound like Father and Son! As Homer would say, "D'OH!" So Yusuf had no idea they were doing this, right? I actually prefer Flaming Lips to Boyzone for a Cat cover, to be honest. - Lissette
