There's an interesting article on yusufislam.org.uk telling about an apology to Yusuf by the Sun newspaper.

Hey, that is pretty cool. I hope this starts a trend of people who said such things apologizing and making some forms of restitution.

Wonderful! How nice to read the public apology to Yusuf in the Sun.

That was actually pretty nice of the Sun (even if they did say he donated money to terrorists, for goodness sake!). Rarely do newspapers and magazines make such apologies... it was also nice of them to donate money to his charities and pay for his legal costs too.

Salaam alaykom and greetings,
I am reasonably sure that the Sun was told 'how the cow eat the cabbage' in no uncertain terms and opted to print an apology and make a donation instead of facing whatever music Br Y and his solicitors had in store for them.
I imagine that it won't be long before GQ follows suit. (Pun unintentional.)
As far as things with me have been lately... "Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans."
Peace, kareema
PS... I just purchased the CD single for (new)' Peace Train/Angel of War' on eBay. There were 2 listed this week, both from the UK.

The Sun is not a nice or friendly paper, I'm sure it only printed an apology because it had to. I know plently of people who buy the Sun and although I haven't seen it myself, I'm sure that someone would have mentioned the article to me if they had actually spotted it themselves. It is probably hidden away.

I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I wonder if the Sun apologized to keep Yusuf off their butts. The thing that concerns me is the apology is on Page 12, where few would even notice it unless they looked closely for it. But still, someone has apologized and regardless to the motives maybe people will realize that Yusuf Islam, although is a nice person, is not one to mess with. You know, people should have started apologizing to Yusuf back in February of 1989 when his first statement was released, but they figured that Yusuf would keep taking it from the media. Well he isn't taking it anymore and I am proud of him.

Now if only others can follow suit and apologize as well! Heh, I think the key phrase here is "follow suit." Seems to me the only way to get certain institutions to apologize and/or clarify is to sue. First you sue, and the apology follows! lol -J

And I wonder if Hasanah ever got an apology from Lloydes Bank! She certainly deserves one! Peace,Vivian

Viv, I doubt we will hear about it if they do apologize, the apologies seem to always be put in obscure places where few see them. Most of the apologies are written because Yusuf's attornies are staring at them with daggers in their eyes. I think that Anthony deCurtis will always have it in for Yusuf and will never apologize. That grudge goes back to the CAT days. Love, A'isha

In all honesty the people that buy the Sun probably never read the first article yet alone the aplology, so I doubt it did Yusuf any harm. Most of the men that buy the paper don't get past page 3.

Cristalina, I don't know much about The Sun. Is it one of those rags that have this on the front cover:
"I AM PREGNANT WITH ELVIS' ALIEN LOVECHILD"
