I highly recommend the book Acoustic Masters for Guitar, Cat Stevens
it has 17 of Cat's songs specifically transcribed and arranged for guitar... it includes guitar 1 & 2 progressions, if you want to play in duets.

Hi Dave, Are the arrangements for both guitar parts the originals played by Cat & Alun, or are they a variation? Are some of the songs arranged for guitar songs that were originally played on a keyboard? Thanks.

There is no mention of either in the introduction to the book, but ?I would assume that some liberties were taken.
I cvan tell you that the version of Peace Train is exacly like the version played when Cat is sitting on the settee off of Yusef's Cafe.
here is the list of tunes:
Boy with moon and star on his head Can't keep it in Father and Son The first cut is the deepest Hard headed woman How can I tell you If I laugh Into White Lady D'arbanville Moonshadow Oh very young Peace Train Sun /C79 Where are you Where do the children play Wild world The Wind

Hi again Dave, Is "If I Laugh" played in the key of "E" and does it say anything about the guitar being tuned different than standard tuning? Or is one of the guitar parts for "How Can I Tell You" capoed on the 7th fret? Thanks.
I'm asking because I have several books on Cats music but most of the guitar parts are arranged different than what was actually played.

Hi There
if I laugh is in the key of E, with a note that the guitar is tuned EBEGsharpBE I do not see a mention of 7th fret capoing, but most of the notes are played in the 5th and 7th fret ranges
does that help??

Thanks Dave, that does help. "If I Laugh" was played in open E tuning and that is the tuning you have written. I have always seen it charted out in the key of E, but in standard tuning.
"How Can I Tell You" is the song that is played with one guitar in the open position and the other capoed on the 7th fret. Thanks for checking.
