Hey guys! Yusuf on german/hamburg radio....so it's here now! I'm just listening to it... what a beautiful interview radio....latest....they played his best songs from the past.... oooh memories....back.... With Christian Buhk he talks about that time - and the realization that it is not without a stage. >>>http://www.ndr.de/903/programm/sendungen/hamburg_nach_sieben/yusufislam105.html<<< Did anybody save this on his computer and would give it to me, please

I don't know if this has been posted before - it's from 1993. This video was posted on YouTube a couple of days ago.

I'm so glad that he is so comfortable in his faith now .. than this video from 93' not needing to turn the pages on the books.. glad he did get away like he said he did when they were giving him false information ... etc... ... .. Looking at him now .. he's so peaceful joyful authentic... he shines shines shines... Living in his essence..it shows his love for God .. it fits to the flower child hippy lover that he is all about .. that true essence... that one can never change .. it is God given....it uniquely expresses who we are singularly and how we show love peace and generosity .. like our fingerprint so to speak from our inner spirit ... that I believe is the beauty of Cat Stevens and Yusuf .. they are linked so beautifullly now .. xoxoxo Amen xoxxoxo

The vid was interesting Hyacinth.........release not tactical in any way? . Am looking forward with interst to Yusufs speech in Canada on Christmas day.. Aurarisma said ''glad he did get away like he said he did when they were giving him false information ... etc... '' are there any substantive evidencesapart from the outwardly perceived...lack of culturally unsuitable garb, shorter beard,European Tour .... for this? would be interested to read/see/hear...anyone? thanks

After watching the first half of this, I was exclaiming to myself "Ugh! Thank goodness he picked up a guitar again! Absolutely no gift for public speaking..." Halting, nervous, constantly referring to notes, disconnected from the audience. Wince. But when he began speaking about marriage and the last sermon of the Prophet, his passion and confidence began to soar. Yusuf's Quranic recitations were, as always, hauntingly beautiful. What a gift he has for that! Aside from the recitations, the question and answer session at the end is the best part. Perfect poise sans notes. These are some of my favorite sound bites from the Q&A: "Behavior must be an ornament of our faith."
"Less and less preaching, more and more actions."
"Charity must extend to all of humanity."
"Islam is … the nation of the middle way." Thanks so much, Hyacinth!

It's interesting to compare the poise and erudition Yusuf displays in the Q&A of this 1993 video with some recent interviews, for example, the Old Grey Whistle Test interview from last August. Whistle Test was a delightful interview, but I couldn't avoid noticing his habit of inserting "...ya know..." after every ten words. It reminded me of those rock star interviews from the 60s and 70s where you could actually hear how much ganja had been smoked ..."Yeah man, you know, it's like really, you know groovy that, you know...." You can see from this 1993 lecture that the repetitive "ya know" isn't an ingrained habit of speech. Hmm .... Surely Yusuf did not partake of illicit substances prior to being interviewed in August. Hmm. Perhaps his aura was responding to ----to fifty years of lingering fumes?

Sorry to be bringing it back to this again- but this is from 1993 and the remarks on Rushdie and capital punishment are still scary to me... Just yesterday, I was reading about Zakir Naik, a prominent Muslim from Mumbai, India, who now resides in Dubai where he runs "Peace TV." He was refused entry into the UK and Canada in 2010 because of inflammatory statements including his positions on apostasy and blasphemy. Any former Muslim who speaks against Islam is committing blasphemy and should be put to death. I suppose Yusuf is between a rock and a hard place on this issue: If he says blasphemers should NOT be put to death, is he himself a blasphemer? If I lived next door to Zakir Naik ....... oh dear ......

I feel your pain Peritura,,,, I decided to trust him.....and to continue to do so.....there is probably a limit on how many times one can leave this board!! Not to do so means to be suspicious of every move he makes...its soo very tiring....the tightrope that he has chosen to walk would just take a little jolt to tip me..and admiration and distaste have only a fine line between....and this 'thing' for me is messy and crazy enough already!! So I trust ....and remain on this site...peopled by the gullible some would say.. but then its all about the music isnt it?...

:)Peritura I would say mostly not so easy.... sad smile..... but hey....... There are no words, I can use Because the meaning still leaves for you to choose And I couldn't stand to let them be abused, by you. .....and who are we to judge or even understand the actions of others....so lets cheer up and listen to Foreigner...... .......
