Last week Annie, my wife, managed to catch the tail end of a Cat Stevens song she'd never heard before and texted me about it. I was leading a wildlife group around Scotland and Annie was without a computer in Cornwall so we had no way of tracking down what she'd heard. So I phoned George (Daddy-o) and, bless him, he tracked it down. It's a song called 'Twinkie' which Cat wrote in 1968 for the follow up to the film 'If' which never was released. The only surviving copy was an acetate owned by Mike Hurst and he has just released it on a compilation album called 'Mike Hurst Producers Archives Volume 3 1964-1979'. It's a lively song - I've only heard it once but it's immediately our Cat and has a great tune. I loved Cat Stevens songs since I Love My Dog so it's great to have another song from his era! I think it's great that he's now performing from his very first catalogue once again, like Blackness of the Night and Portobello Road! Anyway, here's the link if you want to get a copy. I'm sure it'll be a limited pressing run, so for those interested in a complete Cat Stevens catalogue you'll need to get this! At time of writing it's the bottom right picture on the cd sleeves selection on this first page. Go to cd order page and off you go! www.angelair.co.uk/page1.htmGood luck and Enjoy, Chris

Thanks Chris for putting us on to that CD. Not only for the Cat Stevens song but I am so surprised to see Alan Bown featuring on the CD. Jess Roden from Alan Bown is my ex boyfriend from many moons ago. Talk about blast from the past!!!
Peace Margi xx

The film Mike Hurst referred to was either called Twinkie or All Neat In Black Stockings. "Very strange and kinky"... Twinkie was the leading lady. The film was apparently abandoned. The legendary Lindsay Anderson was the Director of the film, which followed If. All Neat In Black Stockings was released, however, and starred Susan George... the movie doesn't have a character called Twinkie so it's possibly not the film with the Cat soundtrack... over to you film fans!
Interesting connection there Margi, The Alan Bown Set were a fab psych/beat group.
Keep rocking y'all
George

PS... essential information here!!!!
I know this will interest Milan who I know is a big Del-Boy/Only Fools & Horses fan. The film 'All Neat In Black Stockings' contained the first use of the slang term 'plonker'.
True!!!
