Speaking for myself, if that photo IS, in fact, Fawzia and the girls, then I'm happy to see it. I see nothing wrong with speculating about it because all that speculation is "within the ranks", nor was any of it hurtfully intended. If anything, I thought it was lovely to finally get a glimpse of them - in much the same way that I would enjoy seeing family photos of someone I work with, or a friend. The visual kind of helps "round out" the name and personality of the person you've been hearing about! And I'd even go so far as to say that I'd love to see what Mohammed looks like now! Like Dad?? Not like Dad?? What do you think?? ;D I agree, Jan! As for what his son looks like, I'll hunt around for a particular pic for you to look at. Hugs, Shirley

I just keep thinking that he bears a striking resemblance, feature-wise, to Dad at that age. Another thing that I've pondered is which of the children is most like him in terms of temperament - you know, the "mother's curse"... "May you have a child who is just like you..."! However, that's a question that I neither need, or expect, an answer to!

You know, it would be so much fun to be a fly on a wall in the Islam household. I would love to see the characteristics of Yusuf's kids in comparison to their parents.
About Fawzia's name, I believe it is Ali. But I am figuring that that the Ismaeli is her father's name. In Middle Eastern culture a child's middle name is the first name of the father. My kid's name is Jamileh Hamdi Mithgal Krayem and that isn't even her last name...hahahaha. It is her name, her father's, grandfather's and great-grandfather. Hey, don't think I put all that on the birth certificate....hehehehe, the space was just too damned small.
Love, Katie

WOW! ;D That would make ME Shirley Rudolph Martin Joseph! And I thought having the middle name "Jean"(actually pronounced "Jean" as in Jean-Claude Killey the skier-Mom's paternal family were of French ancestry)was BAD ENOUGH! I think I will stick with my middle name, Mary.
Hey, I know this family whose father was named Hussein. They named their first son Suddam and the kid's name was Suddam Hussein. Yes, the father loved Suddam Hussein so he was happy with his kid's name.

Katie, For the likes of me, I can't figure out why anyone would like a dictator who reigns with terror, gasing his own people and torturing them, and then dumping them into mass graves! Ewww, yuck! Phooey! That makes my skin crawl with disgusting filth! How can people follow such a heinous evil man? I don't know if there could ever be a perfect human leader, but aren't we supposed to set the captives free from the oppressors? I'm sorry for bringing this up again, but just mentioning his name brings the utmost disgust of nausea. Faithfullight

Years ago, my Dad told me about a girl in his school who was actually named "Financial Burdon"! Her family were quite poor, and she came along at a particularly stressful time in the family's budget. The family's surname was "Burdon" and I guess since it was pronounced the same as "Burden" they simply couldn't resist! Poor girl-everyone just called her "Nan" for short! Shirley

Shirley, I can't believe what you said! LOL! Oh my goodness! Can you believe that anyone would do that to their child? Thank goodness that a particular "name" doesn't make a person become that name! Shoot, that's why I've been saying that just because a person calls themself a member of a particular "group" doesn't mean that they had become the essence of that name, either. Katie, What Native American name were you referring to? Faithfullight

Marty's uncle, born in 1940, is named Adolf after his father. He is known as Junior to all. He has a great sense of humour.

Vivian, You have some wonderful names in your ancestry! At least they bring good thoughts about pious, intelligent people! Shirley, You never can tell what sort of joke Katie will say. She's funny. I love her sense of humor! But I don't even want to guess what she was referring to. hehehe Faithfullight

Talking about names, while researching my family history on my fathers side. I discovered one of my not so bright ancestors named their daughter Marie Antonette a month after Marie Antonette was beheaded. Is that smart or what?? OK OK they lived in southern France and may not have known what was happening in Paris. But I still had a chuckle over it.

Oh Christine! How strange! I'm shaking my head! BTW, how are you doing with the pictures of the fashions of Cat's clothes and shoes? Are you still working on it? I hope I hadn't missed the thread.

I'll start re-working on it faithfull. I went on vacation and put everything aside for a while. I am much more resourceful in the winter with updates than I am in the summer.
I am working on one thing right now, as soon as that is placed up on the site, I'll start working on the fashion page again. :-)
