Great news Sue. and I'm not surprised. As I wrote in a previous post, Yusuf better prepare for more award acceptance speeches. I had a strong feeling that more awards will be coming Yusufs way. I hope Yusuf knows that Hall of Fame Award lies in the hearts of all his devoted fans for many years now, so who gives a hoot if they were too many moons late to nominate him. ;D Congratulations Yusuf!!!!!!!

However, there one does not walk in without evening dress and dinner jacket. If I have just read up on their homepage. This I have to see. I can't see Yusuf wearing a tie, but I think a perfectly tailored dark velvet suit and tailored shirt will do nicley. Of course a woven silk evening scarf instead of a tie as he usually wears. If Fauzia accompanies him, she will be imaculately dressed in perfect taste as always. Remember how they dress at the Fortune Forum.

It is simply wonderful to see him continue to be recognized for his talent and achievements. Vicki - I agree - a tailored velvet suit is just the perfect look. What is it with us women that we are always looking to dress "our men?" Jane

Can't tell you how touched I was reading this news yesterday evening. This is a very special tribute of this outstanding person. Sustainability is my business since 25 years - working for GTZ (German Agency for Technical Cooperation) www.gtz.de/en/index.htmSince 2007 I'm in a Project called "Programme on social and ecological standards" dealing with the items this awards stand for (s. Attachement) Unfortunately my rank isn't high enough to go to Düsseldorf as a representative of my company (free entrance). 250 € is a lot of money and I don't own an evening dress Guess there'll be some pictures and reports in german press an TV Attachments:

To my dear friends in Germany who don't have evening wear to attend the awards, be patient, and don't worry, the concert is only a month away. You will see Yusuf, and what a night it's going to be!!!! There you won't need very fancy evening wear. ;D But if you're still thinking of going to the awards, I remember many years ago, I had made a very nice evening gown from my mothers old green shangtun curtains. If you can sew, and you have a bit of an imagination, you can make it yourself, and save alot of money, or you can just hire.

Just saw some photos from Getty Images from the net of Yusuf recieving the German Sustainability Award. Don't know how to post the link, but I'm sure Sue as you kindly always do, will post the link in no time. The projected images behind Yusuf while singing were incredible. Yusuf modestly accepted the award looking very smart in his dark velvet 3/4 length jacket. Dark trousers, and scarf. Well I was right about the velvet, and scarf. Love the snazzy soft suede beige shoes, although I never pictured him wearing that colour. They really make a statement. He always had a thing about his choice in shoes. Do you think his daughter now designs his shoes, because I read, don't know if it's true, that one of his daughters designs footwear. A skill Yusuf thought of doing before he went into the music business. Now I think Yusuf will have to make a special showcase built in his home to place all the awards he will be recieving. I don't think there will be enough space on the mantle piece now. ;D Sorry, just being silly.

Thankyou for the link, excellent find Incognita, What a warm and lovely account of her meeting with Mr and Mrs Islam. It is obvious her love and respect for Cat/Yusuf continues. Love how she describes Yusuf ''playful, twinkle, still there''. Yes, Fauzia was glowing with pride and happiness for her partner that evening, as all the family must have been. About the little mistake Jane F made about the title of Yusufs new album, it could have been worse. How about if she wrote 'Road Runner'. beep, beep!!! ;D

I must thank Gabi for mentioning a photo by Jane Fonda. I think she just forgot to mention the blog. So I looked around. I wish you could've been there Gabi And yes I'm glad Jane F didn't write Road Runner LOL - or worse still Road Roller (there's one rolling outside my house right now).

They've focussed on Jane Fonda as the "most prominent awardee" and in the interview she took a picture for her blog. I'm not sure, if I would have been enjoying myself amongst all this VIPs and wearing an evening dress with high heels And Yusuf was singing around 11 pm Meeting again with the Majicats in London will be much more pleasing. Here is a little german video ending with some seconds of Yusuf centertv.tp-pro.de/index.php/mediathek/deutscher_nachhaltigkeitspreis_2009/

I had been checking every day for a YT video of Yusuf that night. Again thanx Gabi. I can feel your anticipation and excitment Gabi for the concert, and it's very contagious. Keep it up and I might believe I'm going too. Judging by the photos from the 'Countdown', I think everyone is going to be just blown away by the special effects. Now that's what I call a standing ovation. They went crazy for him. It was so obvious how much they love and respect Yusuf. Loved the guy in the bow tie singing along, a little merry he seemed. I think it's time for Yusuf to seriously think of going on that mini world tour. Once the word spreads across the shores, 'MOONSHADOW MUSICAL', there will be a demand for a world tour and to promote the musical. Everything is finally falling into place.

As usual, I had to peek in at Majicat to see what is going on during my work day - how nice to find this video! Vicki - I loved the guy in the bow tie as well! I almost started to cry watching him sing - I think he felt the same way I did back in May at Shepherd's Bush.
I agree Vicki, "everything is falling into place..."
