Wow, this concert sounded awesome!. I was reading some of the posts on the official site as suggested by Barney. I want to have been there!!! Yusuf you Rock! Oh Very Young, Fill My Eyes, Miles From Nowhere. Sounds like a concert to beat all concerts... I was born on the wrong continent. Thanks for the partial song list, Majid.

well actually maj...it was lazy, because he didnt play fill my eyes, it was lilywhite. great concert, great audience. and yes someone did shout Allahu Akbar, which was nice to hear. The shows are a real mix of east and west, young and old - I celebrate that and say Allahu Akbar. good job team Yusuf I agree Yoriyos... That is exactly what makes Yusuf and his music so special... he transcends all cultural barriers... He's universal.

The concert last night was just absolutely amazing. I loved the musical preview-and I don't usually like musicals much. The performers were wonderful with some brilliant voices. Yusuf was really involved in the musical preview, singing songs and being a story teller. You could see his pride but also his concern over how the audience would appreciate his and the casts offering. For someone of his wonderful abilities he was so completely unassuming. It was just heartwarming. The Yusuf concert was much more than I could have ever hoped for. The mix of songs old and new was just great and the new songs fit in so well with all he has ever done. His voice was just extraordinary and the musicianship of all involved just lifted my spirit. I was so glad to see that Yusuf still rocks, I think I see the light, Bad Brakes, Tuesday's Dead and many more were fantastic. There are too many to mention, but Welcome Home and In this Glass World stood out from the new stuff. At the beginning Yusuf seemed touchingly nervous-but he built a beautiful rapport with the audience who absolutely adored him. On my way out and to the train station all I could hear was elation and awe! Oh how I wish I could join some of you for the RAH concert in December. As someone shouted in the audience: Don't leave it another 30 years! It was also great to have met some of you majicatters last night!

Yep, it's now the morning after, and I'm still smiling like an idiot! It was a fabulous night - I wasn't as near the front as most of you, I don't think, but it didn't detract from the performance at all. I was astonished and delighted to hear "Morning Has Broken" as well as all the other wonderful songs, old and new. I didn't hear any negativity at all; everyone seemed entranced and very appreciative. I know I was! Lovely to meet Sue (and Bill) and Walter - I only wish I could have met more of you! Off to try out my Tea for the Tillerman mug... hope Yusuf got a decent cup of tea in the end! Jo x

So, where's the press today? Last week they've been so quick typing in big letters that he was booed... Today they must be cheering

Last night was amazing, Yusuf was brilliant throughout, singing some of what I expected and a few that I didn't (Oh Very Young, Morning Has Broken). He talked in between songs and seemed to be in fine spirits. He got standing ovations after peace train, Tuesdays Dead and Father and Son and seemed thrilled with the audience's reaction. The Sound quality was excellent, the stage production rbilliant and the moonshadow musical was the perfect introduction (great cast)! I don't see why anyone would have booed such a genius show - I've seen Brian Wilson, The Zombies, Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys and countless other bands this year - Yusuf topped them all.
This is the setlist as I remember it, the order is probably a bit wrong but the songs are right
Moonshadow
World of darkness (Yusuf) Maybe theres a world Matthew and Son Remember the days of the Old school yard When a door closes (Yusuf) Father and Son On the road to find out A bad night Wild World
Lilywhite The Wind Where Do The Children Play Thinking 'Bout You Boots & Sand Bad Brakes Oh Very Young Tea for the tillerman instrumental/talks to audience Roadsinger Wild World I Think I See The Light Miles from Nowhere Morning Has Broken Don't Be Shy Glass World Moonshadow Peace Train
Sitting All Kinds of Roses Tuesday's Dead
Father and Son
He was about half an hour late coming on, and the interval was a good 15 minutes longer than it was supposed to be but it was definatley worth the wait.

I can't see anything threatening about shouting God is great.
Cristalina, in this context I agree with you. Extremists have corrupted the term. As recently as Fort Hood in Texas where 13 were killed on November 5th. And of course on September 11th...it was written and shouted aloud by them. I apologize, they clearly don't represent Islam.

Glad to see "Oh Very Young" on the setlist again! This was the song, that made me fall in love with Cat back in 1974 ...
Glad for everybody being part of this incredible night in Birmingham. If I'd live in the UK, would have been there too. But December 8th isn't far away anymore!
Looking forward to see all the majicat fellows and Yorios and Majid, too?

WOW!!! What a night!Firstly, Bill and I, went to the Malt House, we had been there about 30 mins, when Helen and Peter, arrived, shortly after, Aurelia and Muhamed, then Peritura, then Doreen and Trevor, and finally, Walter and Martin. It was great to meet friend old and new. Aurelia, Peritura, Sue, Helen, (Top - Bill and Mohamed Aurelia, Sue, Helen and Doreen Mohamed, Aurelia and Peter. Sorry, Walter and Martin, you got missed off the pictures Then, it was time to cross the bridge and get to the NIA. I bought 2 T-shirts and a program, then we took our seats, I wasn't sure which way the seat numbers went, so I was pleasantly surprised that we were seated almost in the middle of the block, so we had a great view. What a concert! Firstly, Yusuf, knocked on and then came through a door, it reminded me of the Majicat DVD, when he had come through the magician's boxes! Then he told us that firstly, the preview of Moonshadow was to be as a support act, then there would be a break, then he would come back on. From the side of the stage, Yusuf, sang the first song of the musical, afterwards, he went off stage as the cast carried on. He sang again a couple of times throughout the musical. It was wonderful to see such a beautiful preview of the Moonshadow Musical, the cast were great and it was really good to Cat/Yusuf's songs made into a story, I can't wait to see the whole production, It will be a massive HIT!!! Then, the interval, Bill and I, went over to see Helen, where I meet Sylvia Then we went over to were Jo (Tediber) and her husband were sitting, as they were unable to get to the Malt House. It was lovely to meet them and we had our picture taken. Sue and Jo Then, I saw someone I recognised from Shepherd's Bush, he drove Yusuf's VW bus and gave us T-shirts, Ahmed? I think his name is, No it's Umair, Thanks Christine He told us that they (the family) had travelled to Birmingham, in the VW and that it had broken down on the way, something to do with the gearbox, but, they had got it going again. Phew! On the way back to our seats, we saw Yoriyos, with his family, I caught Yoriyos's eye, as I was wearing the Noxshi T-shirt that he had given me at Shepherds Bush He told us that most of the family had all caught colds since being in Dublin and he had to keep away his Dad, as he didn't want him to catch it! We spoke about the VW breakdown, then I saw that Ariana and her sister were there, I asked Yoriyos, her name and I think he said Amelia, but the old grey cells aren't what they were, so I could be wrong I wish I had written it down! No I was wrong, it's Ariana-Amelia (big sister) and Liyana-Fatima (little sister) Thanks Majid, for correcting me Both such beautiful names Then, we took our seats and the concert began! I'm sorry, I can't remember the running order, I see that Majid, has posted most of them I know that Lilywhite, was first, then The Wind, then I think it was, Where do the Children play, but after that, the order is a wonderful blur. Yusuf, had a different running list to the one Alun, had, so there was a little confusion, over the next song, is it W? He asked Alun, then they sang Wild World, it all adds to the wonderful memories of the night When he sang Moonshadow, he bought "Stormy" on to sing with him. Tuesday's Dead was AMAZING!!! I didn't take too many videos, as I wanted to enjoy the concert and I know there are already so many on Youtube, but there are two that I just had to take. I will add them later as they are still uploading! Here's a few pictures. Singing Moonshadow All in all, it was an Absolutely fabulous day and night, I can't wait to do it all again in London! ;D WE LOVE YOU YUSUF!!! THANK YOU FOR COMING BACK TO US!!!
THANK YOU YORIYOS, YOU ARE OUR HERO!

I am so enjoying reading the in-person accounts of the concert!! ;D Also the videos are marvelous and are of wonderful quality, it's almost like being there! ;D Yusuf seemed to have had a great time which, to me, makes it that much more special. ;D I'm in awe of all the effects on stage and the sound quality, which makes them, uh....awesome! ;D Do I seem to be smiling a lot?? ;D I am, because of how fantastic the night turned out for everybody!! ;D Sue, your pictures are fabulous! ;D Only one thing ...I wasn't there to help him sing Tuesday's Dead. I really don't think I could have stayed in my seat for that one, oh, and a few others as well!! Loving it in Louisiana! Thanks everyone for your input!

Out of concern that Vicki will call out the fact that I am not getting much work done I will make this quick. It sounds like the night was everything everyone was hoping it would be. Sue, as always, you did a beautiful job capturing photos. Thanks for introducing us to new friends through those photos. The photos of the concert are amazing as well. I am so glad that the show went well, that Yusuf was greeted as he should be, and that all our Majicat friends had a great time. If I lived in the UK I would probably have gone to all three shows there! I am really looking forward to seeing everyone in London for the RAH show! Jane

Dearest, Sweetest Sue, THANKYOU, THANKYOU, THAAAANKYOU!!! for those fantastic shots. I'm thrilled for all of you. What a difference a well mannered audience makes. So good to see you, Bill and good friends. Loved your account of the concert. So the break down of the van was the reason for the delay of the concert? Aren't you a lucky girl, a meeting with Yoriyos again. The flu!!! Dublin!!! OMG. Another reminder of Dublin for the Yusuf family. Sorry ;D I hope they are looking after dad, two more concerts to go!!! Yusuf better be taking an extra dose of vitamin C daily, and lots of green tea, honey, and lemon. ;D Get Well to the Yusuf family!!!

Sounds like the concert was incredible! Thank you to all who wrote about it and filled us in on everything that happened. I am happy that things went well, and that the audience was nothing like what it was in Dublin. Saying that, I know that the majority in Dublin were model Yusuf fans. Too bad that a few had to spoil things for many. So very happy for those that had a chance to see Cat in Birmingham.

Thank you for all the good news and Sue i knew your report would be fantastic as always so Yusuf catch a cold LOT OF WARM THEE WITH A GOOD HONEY FROM EUCALIPTISH AND THE BEST VOOR HAVING A GOOD RESISTENT IS ECHINACEA PURPEREA DOKTER VOGEL IS THE BEST YOU TAKE IT ALL THE MONTHS WITH A R IN LIKE NOVEMBER DECEMBER AND AND .It 's a plant of the Native indians Yoriyos to come around the winter without being sick;Dokter Vogel found it on his many travels ;and the VW HAS GIVED IT UP YES IT'S A OLD CAR LOL. Sue i thought Arianna second name was Amelia ,Yusuf said that when she was born so how could they call her sister that way;think you understood it wrong. It sounds that Yoriyos and his brother in law Majid looked very happy about the evening after that horible moment in Dublin;now we have Liverpool and then Londen joepie. So scared something will comes into it but i long so much to the evening it hurts. Yusuf can be more relaxed now but he loves that everything is perfect. Great you have met all this new ones from Majicat and thanks for the pictures.Regine

Just wondering...Is there no media in Birmingham? I have not seen anything yet. I am curious to read how the press saw the concert. Maybe there is nothing for them to say (ya right) this time, for they feel that Yusuf's fans have said it all, or perhaps they would not dare say anything negative.

You, all of you Majicatters out there, are truly the best. ;D THE best! ;D From the appetite-whetting and vital "early returns" (thanks, Barney!) thru the informative "ear- & eye-witness" accounts (by our fellow -- and ultra-thoughtful -- Majicat attendees), straight on to the sharing of magnificent concert (and personal) photography (as always, bless you, Sue!), and, finally, and terrifically, topped-off with all of the fantastic concert-links that so many 'catters dig out and post for us. In a real sense, you all help to place us (non-attendees) at the concert in, if nothing else, a wonderfully vicarious way. For this, and for a thousand and one other reasons: you, very truly, are THE best! -Bud
