I have just returned of my flying visit has the moment. From things to be said so much but as tiredness is made feel I go to make short. A magic concert! Yusuf which had the happy air of the reception that it received, of the changes in the list of the songs and for my part of the tears of happinesses. I really lived an unforgettable moment.
I make a point of thanking Suzie Peter Helen and Bill for this exceptional reception like John and its been engaged. You do not even imagine at which point you my best friend and make good cross people open of spirit it is only it we touched us misses moi.ça in France.

Thanks to everyone for sharing.. Sue your photos are wonderful!! OK.. now tell us, what was the story behind the tea? Can any of you fill us in? www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PwbR0MPHQcThere was part of the concert where Yusuf, said, I'm going to have a break and a cup of tea, so he went to the side of the stage, sat on a box and started to tell a story, then he got up and said, I had my break but didn't get my tea, But you got a story. as he stood back at the mic, he said I won't forgive not getting my tea!!! Then he said, of course I will! Later on, someone bought him out a cuppa in a tea for the tillerman cup, he took a gulp the shouted after them... IT'S COLD!!! LOL He then said, these cups are available at a very reasonable price!!! Then Yusuf, said, all the money for all this is going to charity! That is why someone posted the "What Yusuf thinks of his tea" video. ;D

If anyone can breakdance to Father and Son, it's two adorable little girls. But Yusuf just may have to change the title to Grandfather and GrandDaughter!
They must be growing up so fast. Bet they keep you on your toes!
Peace,Vivian

Quite a nice review, bit short maybe. I think we really did benefit from the events at Dublin because if the musical had been in the middle of the concert it would have ruined what was a fantastic atmosphere. It worked well with it being shown first before the main concert. I think the actors must have been very nervous, (not that any nerves were evident) who wouldn't have been after what happened, I'm so pleased that it was well received and applauded. Birmingham (my home town) didn't let me down, phew

After having read these reports (much more positive than the last concert) something comes to mind.
I can just picture Yusuf on the night saying: "I'm so glad it's you and not them..." :-)

I have a few questions for all those who took pictures and videos: did your cameras have a flash of any kind? Did security bother you? I want to use my FLIP video camera and possibly a Canon digital camera at RAH, although the rules say I can't, do you think it will be a problem? Thanks

Not sure if it depends on the artist or the venue, but I went to a show at RAH in August and security there would NOT allow it - Helen has said the same thing about RAH. We were only allowed to take some pictures toward the very end. However, at Shepherd's Bush in May, everyone was taking photos and no one said anything. I remember everyone who saw him at the El Rey in LA said they couldn't take photos. I would certainly bring your cameras but don't be surprised if you are not able to get much.

Hey Bob, in L.A. they said no flash photography...I fiddled around with my camera, trying to turn off the flash, before Yusuf came out and then said...fuget about it, I'd rather watch the show than worry about a bunch of pictures that won't hardly show up. Guess what...I was right!! The night was majical...if only in my mind!!

At Shepards Bush they did not mind people taking photos but they did not allow videos to be taken. But then again people did including me. At The Royal Albert Hall. They have always been strict no matter what is on they do not allow any kind of photography. The stewards walk round looking for people taking photos. What I have done in the past at the Albert hall is switch off the flash. If you do get seen just say sorry and put it away, only until they have gone.

Helen, you did a really good job getting round the photographer - what a pain!
I was told that taking photographs was fine, but they asked me not to video. And the steward was constantly standing right behind me, so I couldn't do anything about it. Grrr!
On the other hand, I probably concentrated more and it was so wonderful that I really don't mind that much!
Hope you all manage to get some wonderful shots and vids at the RAH - how much I envy you!
Jo

Last night was amazing, Yusuf was brilliant throughout, singing some of what I expected and a few that I didn't (Oh Very Young, Morning Has Broken). He talked in between songs and seemed to be in fine spirits. He got standing ovations after peace train, Tuesdays Dead and Father and Son and seemed thrilled with the audience's reaction. The Sound quality was excellent, the stage production rbilliant and the moonshadow musical was the perfect introduction (great cast)! I don't see why anyone would have booed such a genius show - I've seen Brian Wilson, The Zombies, Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys and countless other bands this year - Yusuf topped them all. This is the setlist as I remember it, the order is probably a bit wrong but the songs are right Moonshadow World of darkness (Yusuf) Maybe theres a world Matthew and Son Remember the days of the Old school yard When a door closes (Yusuf) Father and Son On the road to find out A bad night Wild World Lilywhite The Wind Where Do The Children Play Thinking 'Bout You Boots & Sand Bad Brakes Oh Very Young Tea for the tillerman instrumental/talks to audience Roadsinger Wild World I Think I See The Light Miles from Nowhere Morning Has Broken Don't Be Shy Glass World Moonshadow Peace Train Sitting All Kinds of Roses Tuesday's Dead Father and Son He was about half an hour late coming on, and the interval was a good 15 minutes longer than it was supposed to be but it was definatley worth the wait. Thank you Thomas, for reminding me of the set list. What a wonderful list it is too!!! After all thoses songs, I hope he got his hot cuppa after that!!! ;D He was and is, Simply The BEST!!! A Big Warm Welcome to Majicat!!!

Hm... set list... I think that you forgot "Welcome Home"... interesting, the same was for the Dublin show, even "official" set list on Yusuf's web forgot "Welcome Home"... and now again... and maybe it is the best song from "Roadsinger" album... strange

Finally, I found a glowing review of the Birmingham concert in the papers! The Glorious Return of the Catsnippet: ~~~~~ As the evening drew to a close, I looked around and saw that many in the audience were smiling with genuine affection for this man, and I realised also that I too had been smiling to myself throughout the entire concert – and if that is not a recommendation for a show, I don’t know what is.
Make no mistake. Cat is back.
