Quick question. I was wondering if anyone knew what the symbol on the album cover means. Talking about the one at the top of the cirlce where the guy is grabbing the bull. I want to get the whole circle as a tattoo. But I would like to know what it means first. So if anyone knows please respond. Thank you in advance and sorry if this has already been answered.

I don't actually know what it means, but my guess is it is a zen buddhist symbol or it might be the japanese number 4?

The words "catch bull at four" actually mean something - try Google.

Yusuf has commented that the title "Catch bull at four" is a reference to the Buddhist search for enlightenment (the bull)...so the title is a comment on being near enlightenment (or so he thought at the time!

Attention-hog that I am, I'll state here that in the 70s, I reproduced that illustration in pen and construction paper and had it on my dorm room wall in college. In fact, it's behind me in my living room as we speak, propped up on top of a speaker because I can't find a safe removeable adhesive to put it up on the wall with.... It's as wide across as my arm is long from the elbow to the fingertips.

That must be nice to have around valleycreeper. I'll bet you are glad that inspired you back then. I have a nice pencil sketch portrait of Sade I did in my college days and another of a Poco album cover -neither of which I would want to hang up in my present life. I wish it was a Cat Steven's album I reproduced instead. I'd hang that thing proudly then too!
You would not want to get it professionally framed? Could look very nice...

Yes, I remember, Christina. I used to sew them on the back pockets of my jeans. Really hard to sew through the patch and the denim. Had to do it by hand because the sewing machine couldn't get through, and I didn't want to close up the pocket - I needed to use a thimble. But it was worth it. Was there a Catch Bull at Four patch? I didn't have one of those.

Well, that requires money, and I'm living on a subsistence Disability income... Right now, it's dropped behind my big wicker chair that looks like someone should be sitting in it and drinking a mint julep or something. With all the cardboard it's somewhat heavy so that putty you put up posters with on dorm walls doesn't help much...

I hear you! A nice frame and matting can be steep too. Sorry you are going through such a tough time Valleycreeper. Wish you were feeling better.
Never had a mint julip but it sure sounds appealing.
