I happen to be fortunate enough to live near a community radio station that is mostly volunteer driven and nearly 100% listener supported. I am a listener/supporter of WMNF 88.5 here in Tampa. As a reward for contributing to the station, my friend ,Ed, who has been a volunteer DJ for the station for many years, invited me to be a guest DJ on his program called the FREAK SHOW on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010 at 7 PM EST. This means that for two hours, I get to play my CD's and albums on the program. Of course, this gives me the opportunity to play some Cat Stevens as the show plays mainly late 60's and early 70's music. Right now, I'm leaning towards ON THE ROAD TO FIND OUT from the Tillerman album. I'll also be playing some Ten Years After, Canned Heat, vintage Fleetwood Mac, Zeppelin, and a number of other artists from that period. The station streams live over the internet at www.wmnf.org/ and you can send an e-mail using dj@wmnf.org if you care to comment. Take care folks.

One good thing about the show, is if you click on schedule and find the Freak Show link, you can listen to the show up to a week after the program....in Europe, it will be pretty late for the show to start.

Had a great time last night playing my music for two hours. It's still weird hearing my voice after the show, but it didn't take away the fun I had playing my music for two hours. For those interested, you can hear the show in its entirety by going to wmnf.org, clicking on schedule, clicking on Freak Show, then clicking on listen again.

You did a superb job as WMNF's Guest DJ, so very, very well done! I remember you from the days of catstevens.com and catstevens.uk, and a finer gentleman there never was, and never will be. I even recall you posting about WMNF back then, which led me, at that time, to link-up to the station's web page. It was really fun to do so again. I am always my happiest when I witness good things happening to good people... Kudos, Kat! Please visit Majicat more often! -Bud

Thanks, Bud. Of course, I remember your important contributions to those sites. Thanks for the nice feedback everybody. I try to listen to at least part of the show every week. I love the music of that era. Ed has become a good friend over the years. It should be emphasized that he is 100% a volunteer and receives no monetary compensation for his weekly show. For him, it is truly a labor of love. WMNF is like a large family working together to be a truly community radio station.

Great show, great song selection, congrats Brad!
Incidentally, I've heard WMNF Tampa many many times before through my radio hobby. Caught their signal via the atmosphere more times than I can remember.

Brad, it took me most of the day - in and out of meetings - to listen, but I did and it was great. I put this on my Outlook each week. It was a fun show to listen to. Thanks for sharing with us and congrats!

I'm listening to this week's show. It's really good - music I normally wouldn't listen to. Glad I put it on my calendar.

I rarely miss a show...Ed Greene is one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Because of Ed, I've been privileged to meet Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady(Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna) and Billy Payne of Little Feat.

Brad - I continue to listen to this every week - sometimes on Wednesday mornings and sometimes later in the week. It really is a great 2 hours of music! Thanks for making us aware of this.
I'm listening to last night's show - hope you're doing ok with all that rain you had there.
Jane
