Masterpieces take alot of work and something not to rush in but let intuitions flow ..I love how Yusuf is feeling all around on the Globe getting the feel and vibe and listening and He will put it all to fruition .. on God's Time .. It will be all worth the wait and hard diligent effort xoxo

@sabina or maybe He cangive away a guest spot in the show .. like a raffle or something.. for charity .. I would love to see the musical beyond ... elevated to a transcending experience .. mind body and soul .. but done in a way .. that takes you time traveling .. it would encompass quite alot .. He could even do 3D glasses in part of it.. perhaps... I have my concept written down.. protype.. I sure would like to get it to him.... even an idea of like a planetarium sort of ... so many ideas running thru me ..

The Herald-Sun newspaper here in Australia is reporting that Yusuf has decided the world premiere will be right here in Melbourne. Yusuf is coming for a couple of weeks to sort it all out!

I'm reposting this from Sept. 13. I had it on another Yusuf thread. www.aussietheatre.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1866:moonshadow-the-musical-to-be-workshopped-in-melbourne-&catid=44:general&Itemid=67Moonshadow the musical to be workshopped in Melbourne Written by Matt Edwards Tuesday, 13 September 2011 21:15 The recent trend of workshopping new musicals in Australia looks like its set to continue. Following in the footsteps of Dream Lover and An Officer and a Gentleman, Moonshadow the new musical by Yusuf Islam (formally Cat Stevens) will be workshopped in Melbourne during October. While the musical has previously been workshopped in London, a full production has yet to be mounted. It is believed that at this stage the world premiere is scheduled for 2012 in Melbourne. The musical, co written with Rachel Wagstaff, features many of Islam's well known songs including 'Father and Son', 'Wild World' and of course the title track 'Moonshadow'. When the singer toured Australia in June 2012 he included a 30 minute preview of the musical as part of his concert (as featured in the video below). While musical theatre may seem a long way from the Cat Stevens we know from the 70's, it is closer than we expect as he explains in this 2010 interview with The Australian's Lain Sheddon: "Because I grew up in the hub of entertainment in the West End, everything had to do with musicals and films and music," he says. "I got infatuated by those kind of mediums. West Side Story was probably the biggest one in my life and that energised me and my friends towards musicals. Then the Beatles came along and demonstrated what was possible with a guitar." Yusuf Islam is lured back by musical prospect The creative team have been developing a script over several years for the Melbourne workshop, which will be held over 2 weeks. The Australian actors involved in this workshop will be working with Yusuf Islam and director Anders Albien on the project. The plot follows a young man known as Stormy in a temptation-filled journey through a world with no sun, only moon, as he searches for enlightenment. In Yusuf's own words, the show takes place on: "A tiny planet somewhere out in the distant corner of the universe, where the sun never shines, birds never sing, and no-one has seen the warm light of day" It is understood that there are at least 9 roles in the show, including Stormy's father (who sings the well known song 'Father and Son') and a character called Moonshadow.

Hello Regi and Jane, . It seems Jane is thinking of going to Australia. I'm sure she can persuade you to join her, and what better company could you wish for. Regi. I know we are all feeling the great pinch (punch) of this economic crisis, but maybe we still have time to save. Don't musicals and plays usually premier during the fall and winter? Maybe eight- nine months will be enough time? As there has been no mention of dates, it's difficult to book cheap early flights to Australia. Maybe we just have to wait till it stages in Europe. I hope we have good news of Yusufs visit to Melbourne.

Vicki - it's not just me - Gabi is the one encouraging me! I think there is plenty of time to save unless Yusuf tours somewhere Hear that? That's the sound of loose change being dropped into my "Am I crazy enough to go to Australia?" bank!

Gabi? Hmmm Well it doesn't surprise me one bit. I knew there was a crazy streack in her, just look at the way her eyes shine at the mention of Yusuf. ;D And Jane, you crazy, nah, don't even think that. You are one of the sanist people I have know. Remember I have seen your pin up board above your work desk.

"I’m crazy ‘bout you baby – my, my, my You love just drives me cuckoo, Heaven knows why So let me love you while, the moon’s still high Let yourself go and have a good time" ;D ;D You've got it Vicki I need to get a passport and that takes some weeks here in Germany. So I hope there'll be enough time between announcemet and the premiere. Or should I better start requesting one now? :-) I'm still trying to convince my lovely husband, that this may be his only chance to go to Australia. But he gets sick on the plane and it'll be a hard ride for him. I found the moonshadowthemusical web site in 2009 already - but nothing happened there 'til now. This will change soon for sure!! Love & Peace Gabi
