I just recently watched the Majikat DVD and had no idea before hand where it took place. I immediately got goosebumps, that was the concert that my Mom and her high school sweetheart had drove from Norfolk to Williamsburg to see Cat Stevens when they were 19yrs old!!!! I had to pause it call her, she didn't believe it. I was shaking telling her"No Mom it says William & Mary!" Which she went on to say that Joni Mitchel had performed earlier that day, I'm not sure if it was in the same hall, but Cat Stevens did mention his concert being taped for "something special". Little did she know that it would be something called a DVD of his last concert tour in 30 something years. She would reminisce about it now and then and say I wonder if he ever used it.
My Mom was a really big fan of Cat Stevens in the 70s and has most of his records. She had not listened to his music until I was a teenager in 1996 and found the wonder of Cat Stevens when I "borrowed" my Dad's Greatest Hits cassette tape. Then I remembered my Mom had liked him too. I knew what Teaser and the Firecat looked like because I memorized the cover that I liked as a small child. So I did what every snoopy teenager would do looked for my Mom's stash of records. And the truth came out not only did she have that but... Catch a Bull at Four, Mona Bone Jankon, Budda and the Chocolate Box, and Tea for the Tillerman. Hmmm. Then I went looking for more stuff and found a concert ticket hmmm, at that point I hadn't heard about the concert. So I came clean and told her that I snuck into her records and found out that she had a lot more than one record and a concert ticket. Which then she told me she had a shirt that I could wear, BUT IF ANYTHING HAPPEND TO IT DON'T COME HOME! It was her only Cat Stevens shirt which had his picture on it and Cat Stevens Majikat Earth Tour! Which was a really cool shirt to wear.
So when I called her just recently I said Good thing you kept your shirt and ticket stub! She said it's in the dresser. =) I always wanted to see Cat Stevens in concert with my Mom and now I have seen the same one she saw ...35 yrs apart. She remembers it being wonderful and how funny he was. She did always mention the part about Alfred Hitchcock and the chin and the train, before I ever saw it. =) And the t-shirt that I wore every summer as a teenager is now a DVD.

Thank you all. I wish my Mom could participate in chatting on here, but she is completely computer illiterate. I have tried a thousand times lol, to show her how to use one. My Mom and I never had a lot in common except our love of Cat Stevens music. I thought it was hillarious when as a teenager, I opened Teaser and the Firecat and saw pink iridescent lipstick lip print over Cat Stevens mouth. hmm. So Mom really liked him as a teenager! lol.
I was surprised to see that there aren't any examples of the concert shirt anywhere on the internet. The t-shirt was essentially the promo poster for the concert, her shirt is yellow with black screenprint. I was joking with her about Ebay of course she said that she wouldn't sell it; unless it would pay off what's left on my student loan that she's stilll paying on. lol ouch.
I'm pretty sure that she still wouldn't part from it.

lol She still hasn't rubbed it off after all these years! I remember joking her about it and her reply was if you were 15 or 16 and he was still that young would you not want ot kiss that face?? LOL I have to admit tu chez! Sometimes I wish I had've been born so I could've been a teenager in the seventies. My Mom also admits that she made sure she was looking hot for that concert just in case. lol

Saw Cat in Nashville in '76, but I don't see that concert listed on that year's tour dates. Loved that "majic" entrance! Anyone know the date of the Nashville concert?

Thank you...it was a surprising shock. I had no idea that it was the same concert when I rented it. I thought I was going to crap my pants when I saw Williamsburg Va. My Mom said a he mentioned taping it during the concert she figured that it was for the BBC. Layla is doing wonderful! Now I just have to find her a Cat Stevens onesie!
