First review: 3,5/5 ( Google translation ) *** only 3000 people in Ahoy (Barney) www.muziek.nl/page/magazinedetail/Concertverslagen/19723/concertverslag:%20Cat%20StevensThe return of Cat Stevens would be glorious. Crowded room, people crying, sadness and nostalgia. But only three thousand people occupied Ahoy caused a somewhat surreal sight. That is quite a bit of Cat Stevens himself. Stevens to Yusuf Islam in the media and move forward. He was converted to Islam in 1977 and from 1978 presents itself as such. The BBC made a few years back some jokes about it, slide forward as The Artist Formerly Known as Cat Stevens, in the style of Prince. But the concert promoter there should not really become happy. Because how else was the low turnout for the concert to explain? The ticket prices have also peppered the real Cat Stevens followers would not have been the obstacle. Anyway. This Englishman of Greek / Swedish descent, broke early as 18 years old really by Cat Stevens with beautiful songs such as I Love My Dog and Matthew And Son. Songs were also held yesterday all over. In Part 1 of the concert was his old job anyway indicative of the good times. In a rather austere acoustic opener Stevens played and sang his famous raw and fragile way his old repertoire. The evening started out beautifully. Stevens hopped all by himself strumming on stage and performed White Lily and The Wind in a highly engaging way. Along came the first set of seven, otherwise excellent leaders, the stage up. Immediately showed the masterful "fingerpicking guitar 'Stevens is still a high level. Nice to see that was like 35 years back in the same Ahoy, again fixed his guitar accompanist Alun Davies saw behind his back. In the first part were renowned acoustic tracks like First Cut is the Deepest (gecovered by including Rod Stewart, James Morrison, Sheryl Crow) and Here Comes My Baby (by The Tremeloes, Duffy, Linda Around City and The Mavericks) is over. Songs by all the other versions have become so familiar that the public is sometimes almost forget that they really belong to him. Cat Stevens on stage at Ahoy The work of the man from London has been served at times are close to the musical compositions by writers such as George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein. Actually, from the masterful New Masters in 1967. After a nearly fatal attack tuberculosis in 1969, his work more and anthroposophic religious influences. During that period, shortly after he wrote the song Moonshadow. A beautiful song that inspired him a while ago to write a real musical. In Ahoy we got a sneak preview by the kitschy decor and some pathetic little story in between is not really stood out clearly and the first set brought out of balance. Stevens had also should have known better. In 2009 he also claimed parts of the musical in Dublin and then left some of his songs by others' views. Part of the audience walked However boo-shouting from the hall. Cat Stevens, the stairs at Ahoy Fortunately, the erudite but was also very sympathetic Stevens after the break this slight blunder full extent. Without much visual ballast, he played his famous miniature stitching and Stevens showed the British band featuring master drummer Ian Thomas excel. The numbers of his comeback album An Other Cup (2007) and in my eyes anyway underestimated Roadsinger (2009) fit in this, however. But Stevens will always be judged on his impressive oeuvre. Boots and Sand Road that Singer was originally recorded with Dolly Parton and Paul McCartney on backing vocals, was a beautiful operation. Still, the classics like Morning Has Broken and a sublime version of Wild World in part English and part Zulu, who are most acclaim. Father and Son was being a little less cumbersome instrumental second part up to its promise. Because of the somewhat strange location and strange construction of the first set, got the return of Cat Stevens on stage in the Netherlands the legendary character that we had hoped. But the big news is that he as a performer at the age of 64 barely has lost its luster. All the more reason for him to recover quickly and put away in the example Carré. According we see the master or back in all its former glory.

Second review: ( Google translation ) www.nu.nl/muziek/2520533/zachtaardige-cat-stevens-imponeert-in-ahoy-.htmlGentle Cat Stevens impresses in Ahoy Published: May 21, 2011 12:13 Last edited: May 21, 2011 12:13 LONDON - Cat Stevens did Friday for the first time in 36 years the Netherlands. His old brilliance, the man, as Yusuf Islam who now goes through life, little lost. He brought love, peace and happiness to Ahoy. © Rob Verhorst "Forgive me for the next, but I always wanted a musical love letter", says Stevens shortly after the start the audience. A variety of old-Stevens songs wrapped in a story he already has 45 years to write sets the tone for the first three quarters of its appearance: relaxed and fun. Presented to an audience that swallowing and swallowing. Stevens (62) does not currently shown on the Islamic day of rest reluctantly having to 'work'. Here is an enthusiast who enjoys playing his songs and the pleasure of his audience. Anecdote here, just kidding there. Stevens is entitled to as a charming performer and sometimes makes you forget that you're in a cheerless Ahoy there. Grandpa Wearing pointy gray beard in an Islamic tradition, he becomes gradually more and more to the grandfather that evening in his chair a little adventure an exciting book brings forth and you do listen breathlessly to his softer, smoother narrative voice. One session he suddenly breaks out of the sky covered with a break. Translation on computer-like manner announced "to be continued" (to be continued ") and" see you soon "(" see you soon "). It does the same eyebrows frown, but his gentle nature Stevens comes off with it. Effortless The pause is doing well the Englishman. In the second part of his set, he omitted the stories and he focuses on the music. As for the quality benefits. He not only knows his classics worthy, but also demonstrates that a recent song as Roadsinger effortlessly with the level of his old stuff with it. Some downsides are the times when his six-member backup band did everything. Notably, the three guitars and drums dominating sometimes rubs against a mush of sound. Carried These are the songs that Stevens is accompanied by at least make the biggest impression. With a worn version of Morning Has Broken highlight. The rocking valve Peace Train, the only song in which Stevens on electric guitar, is a positive exception in the bombastic songs that are played. After a good two hours full of melancholy evergreens, anyone with a properly translated "thank you" and "Salam" satisfied Stevens go home. Peace be with you, Cat.
