Crazy All Kinds of Roses ugh... I certainly hope I won't get a screamer like that when and if he ever visits my corner of the world. Especially when he's trying to sing this treasure of a song. Geez......

He sounds so amazing in this song. The timbre of his voice and quality of the sole guitar - it just sounds so fantastic. LOVE this song.
I agree with the ladies. I loved the Italian fan too - she was so confused, the boy with the star and moon, Peace Peasuf, Steven, Yusuf. Funny and cute. But she ended her rant right on...special man! Forever. Amen!

Ah that's life Sometimes you have to take the bad with the good, or the good with the bad. Or the screamers with the non screamers...... ;D I think I could take that crazy Italiana dame anytime if it meant I had the chance, the pleasure of hearing him sing 'Roses'.

I agree with Glaucus on this one - if I travel 4000 miles to see a concert I want to hear the performer, not some crazy lady who doesn't care enough about anybody else - including Yusuf - to restrain herself from that nonsense. I say just shut up and let the man sing - THAT'S what people come to hear! Save your screaming for between songs where it belongs. Glaucus, if he visits your corner of the world, I'll sit with you so you can be guaranteed at least one quiet person sitting next to you

One person actually said she loved the woman - I don't see how... I am still angry at all the people at Shepherd's Bush who completely drowned out Yusuf's voice during "Father and Son." 33 years and 4000 miles later, I didn't get to actually hear HIM sing it until snippets of the Island 50 concerts aired on Palladia last year - a full year after the live concert. The audio captured just him and not the audience - thankfully.

:)Yes @janeb I do get your point entirely..I too would have been horrified if someone had sung at the samr time as Yusuf.....in Berlin it was so cool as near me no-one sang until nearer the end when EVERYONE was singing.....and standing... and when I cried I did it so quietly..which is so difficult for us hot-blooded continental types who find it barely possible to control ourselves!!.........lol

unfortunately not all people come to hear yusuf sing ... there are some that come to sing with him to join in union or whatever .... and in the moment that woman ... God knows what she was saying ... but hey it happens ... out of body experiences I suppose and it is real life .. there was a muscle guy jumping up and down and clapping quite flowerly... lol... oh Lord ..one sometimes just has to rolllllllllllll with it... when he got the video out and was recordig in front of me I asked him if he could lower it just a tad .. he did... ( smile) and the lady next to me was singing luckily for me she could carry a tune .(she irons to yusufs music) lol and yusuf was a bit louder than her at the Stadthalle!!!! Oh what a sweet bavarian dessert of a concert! xoxo

Yes, in all seriousness, it is annoying having someone disturbing the flow of the concert, but it is a live show, and you must expect the unexpected, just as much as when Yusufs specs fly off, or he forgets his words, or there is a sound control blunder, or he seems a little peaved about something, or when the gang break into a greek dance, or when the grand kids come on stage, so many unexpected things, some things you don't plan, they just happen, they just add to the excitement, making the whole experience extra special. That's what I love about live concerts, every concert is a unique experience.

I agree that when the performer does something unexpected it adds to the experience, but when an audience member interrupts the show, I find it nothing short of inconsiderate to everyone else there. If I'm alone in that opinion, I'm ok with that.

Okay Vicki, here I go.... [glow=yellow,2,300] YOOOOOO-HOOOOOO YUUUUUU-SIE!!!!!! COME TO USA PLEEZE!!![/glow] Think he heard me? ;D I don't know whether anyone has posted this somewhere else, but on Yusuf's site there is a webmaster's reply to someone asking him to come to Canada-and they say though no plans have been made, Canada has been under discussion. I know still pretty far from you-but at least the same continent!!!! Fingers crossed.... www.yusufislam.com/news/2011/merci-paris#comments

Yes Jane, you are not alone, you know me better, and I think that most of us here go to a concert to hear the performer, hoping without too many distractions. I went to SBE, I tried to focus completely on the performance, to enjoy every moment, and let no one upset me to spoil my night. The beauty of that night far outweighed any whistle, shouting, humming, screaming that may have come from an over excited audience. I just try to hold onto the best moments, (they don't come by that often for many people), for keepsakes, too many bad things going on in the world right now.

I must have the same chromosome Hyacinth!
Anyway - I'm sure if I were present when Tatiana's rant was going on I might have been appalled - yes, appalled and dismayed. But viewing it on Youtube cracks me up. She actually interrupted him to introduce herself. It was just funny in a sort of surreal way...but maybe not so much if I were an audience member. Though I have to admit - Yusuf handled it with great diginity. He even laughed a bit.
And I'm a quiet audience member too during performances (though I hoot and holler in between songs). Can I sit next to you guys too? Or maybe just one row behind?
It seems to me some of Yusuf's fans are really just beside themselves with joy at the opportunity of seeing/hearing him live again when he was lost for so long.

as they say in Paris 'C'est La Vie' luckily she wasnt sitting beside me .. but then that is what security is trained for .. if it is that disturbing they would '86' a person out... Reality !! oh well...... Yusuf handled it without a glitch and the song was amazing ! x

I have to admit... I'm a "singer-alonger" too, but I am very quiet when I sing. Mostly I just mouth the words. Seeing as I know them, I might as well. As far as the screaming Italian woman goes...well, I really don't mind if someone has a good time. Shoot, if I did I'd have to move outta Looziana 'cause we're all about "le bon temps roule" (let the good times roll ). Around here we tend to give people the benefit of the doubt until they become pretty obnoxious. I just think Tatiana went on a tad too long, and that when Yusuf continued to sing she should have hushed up her little Italian lips. But you know it's that kind of stuff that gives you something to talk about. Hopefully I wouldn't do it, shout out that is, but if someone is that overcome...what the heck? Who am I to judge?? On another note, I personally like to hear the audience singing en masse. It gives me a feeling of solidarity with everyone around me, and I think Yusuf truly enjoys it. How many artists can have 10,000 people, on their feet, all singing the words to your songs...not many. I love it! I hate to say it (not really) , but if I can't have a good time, can't cheer, or maybe dance around a bit, and have to sit like a bump on a log at a live concert (especially Yusuf's)....I'd just as soon stay home, listen to a CD real loud, and sing and dance as much as I want. ;D Because I would never want to make someone else unhappy. So I guess what I'm suggestin' is....all you "wildcats" can sit with me and the "pussycats" can hang together elsewhere. That is, of course, only during the concert...because after that, it's one for all and all for one, Majicatters unite for the greater good (or a cold beer, whichever comes first)!!!

I'm pretty sure we have agreed to this on another thread somewhere, so now we HAVE to do it - and I look forward to it!

But when you can't even hear Yusuf at all over everyone else singing? You might as well gather some friends and sing along to the CD. Why bother going to hear someone sing if you're going to sing over that person? I just don't get it. I am one of those people who sits there like a bump on a log while he is singing because I want to hear him sing. I don't want to hear Joe Schmoe sing. I would even differentiate between singing along (which does annoy me, but I kind of get it) and the loud "WOO" and "WOOTS" during the song. What the heck is that all about? The guy is performing - let him sing his song without adding sound effects, and WOOT all you want when he finished. If someone has no control over their impulses then they probably shouldn't be out in public unmedicated. Just saying... Richina, I bet Glaucus and I would let you sit by us if you sing quietly and don't dance ON us! but he would probably ask that you sit next to me, with him on the other end I mean, someone has to make sure you don't jump on that stage ;D

I promise Jane, I don't yell during a song. But alas...there is a "Tatiana" born every minute. Also, generally when people are singing along to one of his classics, you can hear Yusuf too. But while doing so, we absolutely must pay attention to our "lead singer" so's we can help him when he forgets the lyrics. I would never sing so loud as to drown him out, and I would hope most others wouldn't either. It's just cool hearing that many folks that know the words and the melody. Not to mention, it's a good thing they're not all Majicatters....'cause every song would be a "sing along" (since we can recite his stuff in our sleep). So, I thank goodness for small favors! In other words, I probably wouldn't embarrass you and Glaucus too bad I don't think (notice I said probably) ! Buuut I can't speak for my esteemed "wildcat" colleagues. But hey, cest la vie!! *Hee hee* Then we could pick on them! Could give us weeks of fun!! All I can truly say is that I can't wait for Yusie to come to North America so I can meet some of my Majicat buddies...geez, I think we would have a wonderful time!! ;D Y'all maybe oughta bring some good eye wash though...'cause I'm thinkin' your eyes are gonna get worn out rollin' 'em at me!! Whaaaat ever! ;D PS Oh, and Jane...is there room in your purse for my anti-psychotic meds, my camera, aaaand my straight jacket? Because if I get hauled off, I don't want to have to turn anything over to the property dept. at the Po-lice station!!

A guy like this - who sang every single word (I think that's what he was trying to do), moaned ("Yo . . .Yo . . . Yo . . .") and WHISTLED through my favorite song "Maybe You're Right, Maybe You're Wrong" in Berlin is an excellent example. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZugS2a0oOJwoh.my.word. Sorry - but this is so many kinds of wrong. Tatiana pales in comparison. Is it possible to get a person thrown out for singing badly through the concert - seems only fair. Wow.

Um, guys.......this is what we in La. would call horribly obnoxious! Him, I'd have to shush by what ever means necessary! *heh-heh-heh* What's so sad is that he seems to be sincerely enjoying the song. I don't believe he knew how very badly he sounded and what he may be doing to someone's "once in a lifetime" video. It almost sounds like the guy was drunk...poor fella ( NOT!!). I believe a little tap on the shoulder, a good dose of stink eye, and a whole lotta attitude might have been in the cards for this clown! ;D What a happy, off-key, infuriating dummkoph!! I just gotta calls 'em, likes I sees 'em!
