I've not been to the other European concerts so comparisons cannot be made. I felt last night was very rousing and there was a great crowd rapport. Certainly the Vienese gave a great and warm reception. As the family appeared and the roses were thrown onto the stage, it was like an end of tour finish, albeit with one to go. The performance was a notch up from his London homecoming in 2009 as he has regained confidence and strength of voice as a performer. The RAH will remain the very pinnacle as it truly marked his return but Vienna was signs he is again back on that big stage. Great night and we loved him to bits.

:)Thank you Oysterman...(and I am glad you are making no comparisons to other performances.).... I love your choice of word 'ROUSING'...nice!! You and your lady obviously had a great time and that Yusuf is on top form and more importantly to me ,happy,is clearly not in question now after all these Majicatter reviews....the only ones that I really value..........so thank you for taking the time to post......

Review ( Google translated ) www.vol.at/yusuf-in-wien-standing-ovations-fuer-den-gelungenen-zeitsprung/news-20110601-08351210Yusuf in Vienna: Standing ovation for this wonderful time warp On 6 May 1976 Yusuf Islam, formerly Cat Stevens "was first performed for the first and last time in the town hall. Tuesday evening he returned - and Vienna, was jubilant. 0 comments In the next 35 years, converted after his last appearance in Vienna, the Anglo- Cypriot singer to Islam, changed his name and retired from show business. Now the comeback: Yusuf Islam must not only re Cat Stevens called, he also plays his old hits live again. At today was returning to the town hall stage of the 62 - Year-old especially in the role of his alter egos of once convincing. Kitsch it a bit in between the visitors had to endure can be over, and then "Wild World" and "Father And Son" to cheer as classics. He is not Bob Dylan, the pieces cut its newly defined and arranged. Yusuf Islam brought his evergreen "Lilywhite" (the opener), "The Flirts Cut Is The Deepest" (packed in a medley), "Where Do The Children Play" (one of several articles on this evening by the magnificent album "Tea For The Tillerman") and "Morning Has Broken" and "Moon Shadow" (both in the encore to a standing ovation) as they awaited the audience. Seemingly simple, but incredibly clever melodies and lyrical texts characterize these songs, which you need no fundamental sympathy for this music, a blend of folk and soft rock, can escape difficult. Cat Stevens Fans of the 70 gathered in Vienna's city hall But Yusuf (as an artist, he leaves out Islam, formerly Cat Stevens is the pseudonym of concert posters in brackets) may not be stagnant. It is on the current, long awaited by fans concert tour (were quite a few visitors today probably in the 70s here) next to the standards, contributions from its more recent period of creativity. Before the grand finale of the two-hour presentation, there were two songs with a political issue: the old "Peace Train" and the recent "My People", both beautiful, the oldie but clearly substantial. In the first part of his program Yusuf had some pieces to a mini- Musical summarized. Here, the singer walked the fine line of self-parody. But if just on guitar or band: songs like "Rubylove," "Miles From Nowhere" and "Do not Be Shy" (from the soundtrack to "Harold and Maude") has the time not damage it. And when Yusuf Cat Stevens as interpreted, albeit now with a deeper voice, took the leap into the past a lot of fun.

My heart is pounding from excitement cause I can feel all this wonderful energy, it's contagious!!!!! Vienna, OMG can it get any better than that !!!!! Well our dear friends going to Brussels are in for quite a night!!!!! Can't wait, it's the final countdown, the last train journey, well for now that, and then I expect the train whistle will be blowing in the US. Yeah!!!! for all you good and patient waiting Majicatters across the pond, yeah!!!!!! ;D I think Europe boosted his confidence, and realized that no one really turned their back on him, no one that truly mattered. Peace Yusuf !!!!!

Such joy he brought with him. "Roadsinger" has certaining warmed us through the night. I am really happy for him and for all the majicatters who were fortunate to see him in concert. I pray this is not the last time, but I guess he will take a break after this tour as Ramadhan is getting closer and I dont suppose he will sing in that period.
To all the majjicatters who are attending the last concert, I wish you a unforgetable night in Brussels. And I will like to thanks everyone for sharing their experiences, reviews etc. You majicatter are special. God Bless us all!
Peace, Catchem.

a Review in Vienna : A name can take you, but keep the essence, the spirit and the work behind it are. Yusuf on Tuesday reconciled in the sold Wiener Stadthalle with Cat Stevens, and keep both faces as a jet. The evening brought acts such as the time and also timely, because the views of the now 62-year-old Cypriot-British folk-pop stars of the 1960s and 1970s is inherent in a timeless validity.
As before, is he a better world in which the children have space to play, to peaceful coexistence and the preservation of nature. It has not changed a bit. Not even conversion to Islam in 1977, after close to drowning, before Malibu was still worn by a wave to shore. Cat Stevens called it God's providence - and even now Yusuf Islam.
"It was a time when I did not know if I'll ever make music again," Yusuf says of his years of abstinence, the album finally broke through, "An Other Cup" in 2004. His son brought the guitar back into the house, and have realized one day, the renunciates saying that there is no God in the world can be right when a talent is wasted.
Almost seamlessly to add the songs of two creative periods during the two and a half hour concert together, the Yusuf opened acoustically with the 1970 ballad "Lilly White" and "The Wind", from the said one line of text the blessed gift of Cat Stevens: "I take me my music out to where my heart wants to go. "
By and by seven musicians joined to the master, falls back to the first single of his career: "I Love My Dog" from 1966. Hardly anything is missing, waiting to be heard of "The First Cut Is The Deepest" to "Oh Very Young", from "Morning Has Broken" to "Father and Son", for which Yusuf are four generations of open cross private photo album.
Before the break sanded the mood, as the singer in fast-forward through its planned, schludert with old hits shifted Musical, to Pflanzerei "Moon Shadow" just as the clock on-sounds or "Matthew & Son" under the wheels of a crude arrangement comes.
The stronger-designed Vulgo Cat Stevens the second part, which is nourished by the hippie-humus, trees dedicated to the dearly sung "Miles From Nowhere" the great "Road Singer" can follow. The unfriendly gesture by the U.S. authorities under George W. Bush, which identified it in 2004 as a terror suspect, he is the mischievous music video for "Boots and Sand" against the peace hearty spirited folks he talks to "Peace Train" and the brand new "My People" from the soul, which deals with the current changes in the Arab world.
In the silence between two songs blaring fan, it hits very well, "Catsy, you're weak in Urdnung!"

Another reveiw in Vienna!
Naively: Yusuf Islam Cat Stevens is still 06.02.2011 | 13:39 | By Thomas Kramar (Die Presse)
Pop Concert: convert to Islam in 1977 and brought singer in the Vienna City Hall all his hits - and many lovely images.
There's only one god, only one god has a place in my heart ": These lines from the song" All Kinds Of Roses "(2009), the Yusuf Islam brought vulgo Cat Stevens as a bonus, can be as a commitment to Islam (though also interpret each other Monotheism). Otherwise had trouble to hear from his concert religious ambitions that he would have not been before his conversion to Islam. The fanatical Muslim, when he was about 1989, the death threat against Salman Rushdie alright, he's not quite obvious.
What has become of your friends from back then? Find your friends from past days. They remember a friend from old times, or the girlfriend of the neighborhood school, but the contact is pulled down over the years. What does he / she now look like? Now you can find them. More »This is not fit to him, Cat Stevens does today, as he has acted as a boy, friendly, mellow, a naive Weiser, who is deeply convinced that this world is basically good and well. "I love everything," it says in "Miles From Nowhere" (1970), which has remained his creed, which he called on stage with a gentle smile, the "Ideological message" of his songs. Whether he "Midday (Avoid City After Dark)" evokes the 2006's love for children, wind and rain, or in "Morning Has Broken" (1971) praises the morning sun - and even of "God's recreation of the new day" sings - it is, apart from the time of day, the same thing. And the "simplicity" of the day, which he says in "Old School Yard" (1977), he has remained loyal.
In the town hall of the white-bearded man sang these songs and many, many more. He suggested to his appreciative audience to take more vacations, best in Greece (he himself comes from Cyprus) and he raved about the "Universal Love", was riding on the "Cosmic Train" and mused about the "Wild World", the not so wild, if you look only contemplative enough. The "Moon Shadow" which he sang ultimately, you could see on many of the fantasy images with which he could illustrate his songs: naive, sweet and nice out.
Father and son and grandson crowd Can you explain that so much kindness had unnerving in the long run? That if after two hours in the most harmonious city hall longed for dissonances? But what for. He was a long time - more precisely, since 6 May 1976 - not because his fans had some catching up. Finally sighed, young and old to 'Father And Son "Cat Stevens has written this song, whose father's tone tends to have grandfathers, 1970, with 22!
Today, he really has grandchildren. Some of them he got between the additions to the stage before "All Kinds Of Roses" intoned. Could that be because even the skeptics a little overwhelmed with emotion.

I will post or email you some thoughts from us. No videos of the concert though. The security were very strict in enforcing the ban by Yusuf"s management. I would have needed to sit well back, not the front row where it would have been a bit obvious! The RAH videos still remain to keep!
