I certainly don't mean any insult with this thread. In my mind, a performer's mistakes -- and the charm with which he recovers from them -- are a major part of what makes him endearing. For example, my daughter is sort of a performer too - she did competitive gymnastics for a few years, then competitive cheer and now hip-hop. I was always amazed at her ability to mess up then continue on as though nothing had happened. So nobody but the judges and her coach would even notice. But sometimes it's way too obvious, particularly when an audience is watching your every move - and knows exactly how the words and tune ought to go. One might argue that errors in a performance are a sign of unprofessionalism. It shows that the performer didn't practice enough, or perhaps isn't cut out for live performances. But with Cat/Yusuf, we know better, right? Of course I think he could do anything at all performance-wise and I'd still adore him. We have a new mistake to enjoy, thanks to the Peace One Day show, right? Endearing. But apart from that, what's your favorite flub? I think mine is "The Hurt" on the Majikat soundtrack/DVD. First verse, he starts to sing the 3rd verse, part of which isn't even supposed to be sung by him but by backup singers, so he ad-libs a few words just to fit the meter. (Possibly this is because this is one of my favorite songs.) Sure beats that Bitterblue video where he makes them re-start the song *twice.* But that's kind of cute, too. I gotta tell you though, seeing those things makes me feel a lot more confident. If someone like him does it and moves on without . . . I don't know, melting into the floor . . . so can I. The next time I had to get up and talk in front of people, when I messed something up, I just laughed. And so did they. I have terrible public speaking phobia. And last week I had to SING in front of my whole church - ALONE. Accidentally. Accidentally!!! Our choir director is so funny, she calls them "accidental solos" and praised me for surviving my first one. We only had 3 choir members show up, and the other 2 took off to do other things during one of the hymns, and the congregation didn't know the song so nobody started singing . . . just me. Let me tell you I am NOT the best singer by a long shot; it took lots of convincing to even get me up there. But I totally had a WWCD moment . . . you know, "what would Cat do?" LOL! Enough rambling. Humor me, tell me your favorite flub.

Well, you know what? We have these "fun" threads - but in some ways they are quite serious. We can joke and fantasize about this or that, but the truth is, Yusuf is incredibly inspiring and touches us in ways far beyond the obvious. Some may say that the frivolous threads don't interest them - but many times I think that's where the real meaning lies. It lies in what the music and the man inspire, in all of our moods from pensive and spiritual to fun-loving and even satirical. Because when I say Yusuf has inspired me and helped me deal with some tough things in my life, believe me, it's not a joke at all. But I can't really trust anyone who doesn't mess up occasionally.

:)Yes peacock..its always apparent that your feelings run deep... I like to think that my 'goofin' too is not taken the wrong way.... That Yusuf can inspire and heal and reach deep into peoples hearts is a devine gift I think...that he remanins solidly human is also in his case then very imortant.....hence he flubs...its necessary in the great scheme of things....and I love ALL the flubs......

Not only that- he has SPECIFICALLY created the sense of humour. And to me that was Yusuf's greatest flub:he seemend to have lost all sense of humour at a certain point in his life. Praise be-he rediscovered it big time!!

All great choices, Not really sure if this counts as a "mistake" but when his guitar string breaks during "Tuesdays Dead" during the majicat concert, and Cat is oblivious to it all.
Peace,Vivian

I remember at the 76 Majikat Concert (DVD) when Yusuf is at piano and starting to talk about Miles from NoWhere and plays a few notes fiddling with keys and ALUN flubs by starting the song .... Cat is coooooooooooooool.... wowwww very coool there ... not liking it.... but goes with it and gives an amazing performance right from the first note ..not even letting that bother him anymore .. Jean also had a way of starting the piano while Cat was talking .. which to me would be annoying like who is up in front here boys lol.. ... also I noticed Jean started the piano at Bercy too.. hmmmm.... ...mm.....just sayin' xoxo with love of course xoxoxo!

ha ha - you are too funny Christina. I don't think anyone is more protective of Cat/Yusuf than you! My favorite flub is in the ABC in Concert video of Morning has Broken. Somewhere around 1:51 the choir joins in singing with him, and they sound so amazing that he forgets to keep singing and stops to listen blissfully to them, even turning slowly to look at them - before realizing that he is supposed to be singing too - which he starts doing again, but almost as though he wants to hear their voices and not his own - so he sings along in low volume. I love it - i can watch it over and over again. He is so special that guy...

He is back where he started from .. xo

Me neither-thank you for posting it with the clip, not sure I know all the other ones mentioned. I do like the one Gabi posted: Am I doing the right thing, Al? You can just see the importance of that friendship. To have someone you can ask whether you are right so trustingly and without pretence! Thank God for friends...
