HOW could you even question the ,well admittedly and paradoxically, the almost 'graven' iconic quality of those chippngs.... AND clearly it is only sick that you are just a little bit serious ?? Okay - I was dead serious. But I'm pretty sure Jane and Flemishfangent would be hauled away before they got a chance to dig out the treasures from beneath their nails. (okay this is bordering on repulsive now) ;D

we need a sponsor... We really do. I guess it would be a little too idolistic (??) for him to make a museum for himself?? Do you think?

Seems I mixed up the "Red Room" with his "White Room" "I play records and entertain there. It’s a great room for people who want to feel nice and watch a fish tank or something." On a higher floor Stevens designed what he calls "My Little White Room." It has the barren quality of a farmhouse. As he describes it, "There’s no furniture, one bed, and a bathroom." In the corner stands an omnipresent symbol—a stark white upright piano. It was in this room that Foreigner would be written, but not until Stevens’ next trip to the United States had convinced him it was time to shake up his sound.

Well who knew such a tacky looking thing (I'm assuming) would produce such a magical creation! Thank god for the tacky white piano!!! And Yusuf of course.

I could swear I read an article about him having a white piano on this board somewhere though. He did mention that the original "Red Room" had white carpet "that you can't walk on in shoes" White piano and white carpet, but this is after the Red Room.

When he remodeled the house in Fulham, the top floor was all white, with nothing but a white bed and a white piano. Today, the white piano looks incredibly tacky, but in the mid-70s all white rooms were tres, tres chic. But what about the enormous fake tree that ran through the center of one of his houses, containing a dumb-waiter? Was that the Fulham house too? And how bizarre is it that he would remodel the Fulham house, from top to bottom, without putting in a kitchen. A reaction to growing up over a restaurant?

What is it? A Yamaha? (I doubt that Steinway made white pianos.) What kind of pianos do y'all buy in Great Britain?

...still to let I was an acquaintance with the people who had the restaurant there before... used to meet up with them and stayed in touch for a bit .. they were love and the restaurant was lovely and got to go up on roof and soak up the vibes .. I wish Yusuf would put a Moonshadow Cafe there!!!
I'm going to look at it and see about it myself!! I have an idea ~~

Just went by 245 Shaftesbury Ave the other day. The "To Let" sign inside is gone, but there's still one on the right side of the building and it's still empty.

View AttachmentAlun told me he was pretty sure it had been sold and plans made for it.....for the life of me I can't remember what he said was to be done. Sorry, and so sad, there goes our museum plans....

That's too bad! It would have been a great location for a museum.
