In a recent blog at his website, Yusuf wrote of his house in Fulham, "Looking back, it was undoubtedly the house of a travelling musician; the only kitchen equipment I had at that house was as frugal as you can get – a kettle and an electric two-ring portable cooker! "
Nonetheless, according to nephew Robert Gordon, Cat installed what we would all like to see more of, a dumb waiter with a sense of humor: "I have vivid memories of visiting him. He had installed a huge fake tree that ran through the middle of the house. It went up through all five floors and had a dumb waiter inside. He used to sit in it and pull himself up to the different floors."
In an April 1975 interview, the world renown pin-up of the hippy generation coyly asserted to a Montreal reporter that women are attracted to him because of common interests: "I like to arrange flowers, I like to cook."
I'm willing to believe that a man who knows what to do with Marzipan likes to cook. But where did he cook and more importantly, after he left, who did the dishes?

I would imagine you can't grow up with a restaurant as your family business without knowing how to cook. And do dishes too, for that matter.
Wanting to is another story.
My hubby worked as a cook/chef for over 15 years, even earned chef certification through the CIA. But at home he won't even fry bacon. His idea of "making dinner" is going out for burgers and fries.

Not a thing wrong with it Affy. It's just that buying food at a takeout restaurant is not "making dinner."

After perusing photographs of satin-clad young Steven in the kitchen of the Georgiou's Moulin Rouge, I will never eat souvlaki again. (Admittedly, I'm a vegetarian... but you get my thrust, as Mr. Bone would say.) If I had reached adulthood with that gestalt of a kitchen embedded in my psyche, and sufficient moolah to satisfy my every whim, I too might have demanded that my architect conjure up a kitchen-free sanctuary.

If a man ventures into the concrete jungle with his bow and arrow, risking life and limb to slay three cheese pizzas, lugs them home on his brawny shoulders, peels off their cardboard hides with his hunting knife while they're still steaming breathing, so his sons will understand how to provide for the next generation, I always say "Oh thank you for making dinner, darling."

LOL! And I do too. But after a while you get tired of it and long for a homecooked meal. At which time one might lament the two years spent in near-poverty while putting a spouse through culinary school only to have him become a mailman cruising the drive-through. But I'm not bitter.

I'm sure he can cook and probably enjoys it ..probably has some secret recipes from his parents as well !! xoxox joy
