Well , Lady D'Arbanville is a well-know song for Cat Stevens and a very beautiful one. I hope for you, that you have already hear, the Italian and french versions of Lady D'Arbanville singing by Dalida, I like very much Dalida, I have a certain attraction to old songs ... and singers -French version -Italian version [The songs have not the same story as the original.]

some songs should be left untouched and in my little opinion .. this happens to be one of them especially being done by a woman ....I respect it as the masterpiece it is and its deafening heartstrings .. ... I heard someone do a version of it on the paris metro a few weeks ago on a stratacaster I think he got it ... after talking with him a bit I believe he did and it was amazing .. the instrumental part he played on it was amazing its on you tube under my name !! - but esraa mentioned she changed the lyrics and is using just the instrumental ..oooopsie thats a no no !!

Oh yes ,I have always been for the originality of arts or songs, but there are several classics adapted in French and sung by Dalida, but not written by her. I can mentioned among other "Look What They've Done to My Song Ma" or "Historia de un amor" But in fact, it's like she used just the music because the songs are not translated accurately.. AND of course our preference is the version of the Cat

I believe one cannot do legally but I didnt like her voice ... I do love alot of french vocalists too!!!! I hope you dont mind its just my opinion .. Im a singer so I guess I have a sensitivity to some one singing songs that are soooo individual like this song .. its rare I feel that way but this song because of the "history" I wouldnt want to hear anyone else sing it ... its deeep... there arent that many songs like this one ... xo

I agree, the first time that i heard this song, i no longer wanted to listen. But i realised that it was so different , it just like to another song.. Sometimes i wonder, for change or do a cover of a song , you must have the agreement of the author, the thoughts of Cat Stevens... Does he like it ? ;D

To me English sounds like a sing song-that is British English, not sure about American English.

I actually like the second one in Italian. Of course, I love Italian. Is she singing it in Italian with a French accent or (in the first one) in French with an Italian accent? I think her voice sounds better on the second video - a little hoarse or raspy, which adds to it. Dalida is a singer and actress born in Egypt , with Italian origins but she was french naturalised. She spend a big part of her life in France, and she lived more with italian in Egypt, in her community . According to wikipédia : "She received 55 gold records and was the first singer to receive a diamond disc. Dalida performed and recorded in more than 10 languages including: French, Arabic, Italian, Greek, German, English, Japanese, Hebrew, Dutch and Spanish." So she sing with an italian accent

esraa What does English sound like to you? What does the english sounds to me ? Well it's sounds like a little , simply , soft, language.. It's more simply than other languages. I never questioned myself about that.. I can speak four languages: French and Turkish are my maternal languages and i learned English and Spanish .. and i always wanted to speak Italian and Greek , but i can just read the Greek

Good Morning Ladies xoxoxoxxoo
esraa hyacinth I was so grateful for growing up inthe 60's because we had language classes which I chose french and gee we even had Utopian Literature ...loved that class my hand was up threw the whole Course lol.. oh and we had prayer too!
Greek happens to be one of the most difficult languages to learn with Japanese and a few others... I would like to learn Arabic . I really put my french to use in paris a few weeks ago . luckily the germans (when I went to Berlin Munich and Salzburg)were smart enough to want to learn English or whatever their reasoning was .. most all I met knew some English for which I was grateful...germa nand arabic are my two languages that i would like to learn. I learned spanish a few years back (a neccesity in America) which helps with understanding italian too and , of course greek I grew up on .. grateful my parents made english the first language in the house tho', and my grandmother lived in the house next to us and my aunt and uncle on the other side so I got my greek in espcially when I was helping my grandmother make the holy bread for the churches .... I put my finger in the dough a few times too many lol ... God forgive me ..I guess I was tasting it and blessing it at the same time!!! lol what part of the states do you live in hyacinth may I ask ? do they not teach a foreign language in the schools any longer?? I remember when prayer was so prevalent in the public schools in 60's Thank God! xo

hyacinthWell, the learning of languages is important in the french education, in France we must learn two languages, most of the time (more if you want ). There's differents languages to learn.. I love languages, it's something new. And the ancient languages also are very informative, i've done 3 years Latin, and 1 year of ancient Greek, you understand better the meanings of words of our days. @sabina and Richina I really like this shirt too .. It's so 70's! Since my childhood i want to be a fashion designer ,well , my style is very vintage inspiration. And the 70's fashion is back . I think it will be very 70's and why not do a 'Cat' collection ;D

OOOPSIE ... I didnt see that "info" .. was really into your name "hyacinth" ... just left it at that and yur beautiful comments a TEXAN I should have known...I heard your musicality there@!!!!! (wink) I do listen to all your "Listening to Now" videos .. nothing obnoxious as you put it .... so far LOL ... I took alittle detour on the Yusuf European Tour and stopped in Czech Republic . I have a friend who lives there .. she showed me around .. beautiful .. x it must have been quite interesting to live there !!! How did you manage with the language ... They do have an agenda ......
I know what you mean about the news .. all channels have changed a bit to suit their need and interpretation ... luckily we have so many areas to get news from and decipher it on our own as well... BBC Al Jezeera etc.
still when all was said and done on my month in Europe .. I loved it ...but couldnt wait to get back to the politeness that is America .. the manners I missed .... and the confidence and kindness .... usually that is what I find here !! xo somehow everywhere I go I sense One Heritage.... but sometimes I find alot of 3rd eyes not opened ...not judging ..just observing in a loving way ... guess we are all here to help open that God Eye more ...the wondrous-ness of it all...
the arrogance u talk of... I find is only fear .. I guess we all have the potential for that at times I saw it abit in a few ppl in Munich:) x
ahhh remember the days of the old schoolyard.... mine were like yusuf sings about but instead of warm toast for tea, I had trianglular cut or star cookie-cut peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches parochial schools were good back then so I understand .. I wonder why they cant leave God in the schools ... Hes in Us .... so.... why not .... and for those that do not believe altho how can little tots know whats good for them or not at that early age .. everything should be put before them more or less... but if they dont believe or have been made not to believe they can sit there and think of whatever they do think about... giving thanks to . anddddddddddd we were lucky gals to see The Beatles ... wowwwww I always wondered why they were screaming so much ... I could hardly hear the music.... lol..... I get it now !!! I love your tall ladder..... one can become a breathetarian up there !! heheeheheeee as for Lady D'arbanville song : yusuf sure sang Lady D'arbanville in a beautiful deeep language hearing it in another language gives me the creeps a bit .. I have to say ... it is a masterpiece x xoxox happy week to you my friend xoxox

Wow ,yes, you were lucky to see The beatles.. I love their music , well i think everybody love their music , Sometimes my friends, most them like Beatles and to tease me, do a lot of comparison between Cat Stevens' music and The beatles music.. Well it's incomparable, the period, the style ... They said that he looks like to Jesus ;D ,and call him 'the Hippy'. They really like to tease me , about it, it's funny, after a while they no longer able to argue with me, i'm very headstrong It must have been really embarrassing all those girls who scream and weep for those who want listen and sing too. It breaks my heart to see it, these girls look so desperate

hyacinthYou can't know how much it hurts me to see these desperate girls ... Yes there's sooooo much on Youtube I also think that Paul was the cutest I remember , two days (or three) before , i was arguing with my friend, about Cat and Beatles, and this night, i seen in my dreams Georges Harrison and John Lennon.. The two deads of the group. It was strange and funny and i felt like i knew them for a looong time .. And, and as a girl who want to become a fashion designer , the 70's fashion is back , large, colorfull, with pearls, feather, beautiful patterns, long necklaces, flare jeans .. I'm very lucky to live in Paris where there are great vintage stores, and vintage is very cheap ! I bought me a perfect vintage fringed vest, i love it !... Last time i saw lots of LPs, even 'Teaser and The firecat', well if you want you can get them in superstores of musique.. So get out all your old clothes, it's late for nothing

On 2:08 look at the woman, she covers her ears , and there's no man..

[...] But Yusuf has returned , at least for a while, and to tie it back to your thread, although we will never hear him play My Lady D live again, that's just o.k. with me! We have YouTube, and we can hear so many of his other songs, and even new ones! Yeah! It's all good again! No, for me it's not ok It's ridiculous of his wife, demanding that he no longer sings one of his greatest and most beautiful hits and it's weak of him that he join in the theater ...just my opinion...

never say never @hyancinth especially with Yusuf! I never thought I would hear him do Angelsea which is one of my most favorites of his .. and he did..... ! "oooh my babe I want you" God what a beautiful song that is !!!! as is Wild World talking about if you have to leave and so forth .... and in the morning when uou Filled my Eyes.. yet all the songs are docu's of life and history and of course the song D'arbanville has its place in history and perhaps that is where it should remain in the grave so to speak I dont mind if I never hear that song again .. I do get that song and why it is such a masterpiece tho'. in Munich he talked about love and relationships and how love leaves and then he said ahhhh not really .... or something to that effect . but then how about Sweet Scarlet and all the other songs he wrote for souls ... ones that taught him love .. functional and dysfunctional ... all a part of history .and most all of us can relate to it .. its those pages in the Book of our Life that are the biggest lessons learned that get us to where we are and we are still "On the Road To Find Out" and it is just beginning fresh each day .. . for me, I've recognize that those are the most valuable lessons that shifted such a change in me for the better . its nice to know that yusufs songs/lyrics always help others .. He is a healer ..He mentioned that his best days are yet to come .. he is grateful for each new day and creating new .. and I get that .. and that is because he walked 'thru' all that he has with the rainbow above him and in him.. He didnt just find God.. God was always with him .. saving him and he says that too... the help was there always .. "The Wind of my Soul" x xo peace xo joy xo

@oh M. xoxoxo u mean the theater ? Oh it will be grand .. Yusuf creates instrumental arrangements that rival the greats!! Dreams must come true..and he has alot of them and I wish for them all to come true as I do for you !!! as for singing the songs.... I love what he always sings so I'm grateful for his setlists! He is opening... to find the world he started out at and the beauty of its joy and realizing it for the first time... I love that feeling .. its beautiful .. I loved when he sang 'Maybe you're right" that was an amazing choice and one that we can all relate too.. and Sad Lisa.. wowwwza! loved it in paris! I can relate to D'arbanville song a bit ... as I'm sure alot of people can... when one wants to extinguish that part of someone and only awaken certain areas of them that they remember as fabulous and he is singing "I loved you my lady tho in your grave you lie " to me, He isnt saying he loves her per se' -- only the parts that still make his heart sing perhaps ...'this rose will never die" to me is respect for what he learned when with her .. The Good The Bad and The Ugly...((thus the grave)) and perhaps a very indirect thank you too. that he will always cherish and why shouldnt he or any of us for that matter that went thru something like that .. that was lucky enough to go thru something like that that made the depths sooo deeep .. what a masterpiece!!! xo He is a beautifully deep lantern...
what Was and what Is are two different things .. Hallelujah! ... but how about "Later" ... now will he ever sing that one !! "maybe help you fold your clothes it was nice that he wanted to help that person with their laundry!! hehehehee ok just kidding .. it is a beautiful song tho'.. its real feelings that we related to. God bless him and to much more touring and many more new songs! ~!
ok I'm off to the organic market .. to buy some watermelon and other fruits... xoxo yum! xo peace n joy xo play nice children xxo

well u went too far for me ' so i will bow out of this conversation .. xoxox . I dont talk about people or give opinions of them etc... I try not to even think it ! xxxsooooooooooooo its ccool if others do tho' ... x Im cool with that .. and really not my bizzzzzznesss I will stand on my last comment xoxoxooxx I dont want to get into mirrored reflections and all that talk or why we get what we get when we get it and what that leads to and what Gods hand is in all of it ... ... and where He wants to take us ... and so on ....into the future ... God only knows all the answers and how choices are made and yada yada yada and ladeedee la la leee leee leeee .. my exit music !!! hahahaa xoxoxox The End for me !!! I breathes and I bid you adieu xoxoxoxoxox but.... in closing I can speak about me on something I do want to share : what I've learned in my last relationship/lesson or road was a big one and very vital for the depth of my "lantern" . I needed it ... got me ready for major rewards .. God cant give us the greatnesss we are to be and what he wants for us if we arent ready or willing ... somehow I wonder if there is a time limit when opportnities are no longer there ... I mean God was talking to me thru a "megaphone" lol so I thank God for my latest big lesson .. it was not as deep as the Firstcut .. but a real deep one at that !! I had a big hurt boo boo I do wish that I could have learned it a bit earlier time wise...... xxo I only can blame me .. I mean do you know how loud a megaphone sounds???!!!!! lol peace xoxo soooooooo hyacinth .. How was the weather today over by you ? ;D lol I'm working on my photos from Berlin now .. i swear I took a photo of every piece of art and sculptures that pulled at me in every museum!! lol xxxox
