Hello fellow Cat followers. Just wondering if anyone knows where the tale for this song comes from - isn't it beautiful? Got it on a loop at the moment.

"isn't it beautiful?"
It's his masterpiece, complete fairy tale in 6 minutes. My fav Cat track.
Welcome to Majicat.

Well that's odd - in a cool way... I woke thinking about the Boy with a moon & star on his head today. I got to thinking about the boy and the day in question and realised the boy would be a man of about 38 years old now - depending whether the years pass by the same there as in our world... I never wondered if the tale of the song came from anywhere other than Cat's own wondrous storehouse of lore. It's an interesting question, guzzler. It'll be interesting to hear from anyone else if they know anything in that regard. I think I've been so caught in the imagery of the tale and its story, I've not really taken a step back to look at it that way. It certainly has been one of my top favourites too Milan! And guzzler - as Milan said - welcome to Majicat!

There is an Indian fairy tale with the title The Boy who had a Moon on his Forehead and a Star on his Chin. It has some similarities to Cat's song, so maybe it influenced him. It's a bit long, but interesting.
Yes the story is interesting. I think Cat Stevens must have read it. The main character is a boy with a moon and star on his head whose mother is a gardener's daughter. The story also bears some similarities to Cinderella and the Boy who Cried Wolf.

I also find it interesting that the cow in the story is named Suri, which is the name of Tom Cruise's daughter.

That song is the reason I love "moons and stars". Beautifully done imagery!
