Well, all in all, Cat/Yusuf's new music is brilliantly innovative, as of today. But his old music was meaningful and timeless classic songs, such as Where Do The Children Play, Father and Son, and songs of peace and love. I think my faves always come to mind, like Moonshadow, How Can I Tell You, The Wind and so many others, which lift me.
My Mum's favourite ones are Hard-Headed Woman and the one about the boy with a moon and star on his head. She also likes the song from his heydays, the ones such as I'm Gonna Be King, I Never Wanted To Be A Star, and Road To Find Out.
On the An Other Cup album, I also like Mid Day, Maybe There's A World and There Is Peace, beautiful melodies and memorable lyrics.

When the album first came out, my fav was "Thinking 'Bout You". But on closer examination (and listening), I felt compelled to change my vote. I decided I liked "Every Time I Dream" due to the rhythm, and more importantly, the imagery it invokes. I can just see him "back in the stall, sitting all alone, waiting for the show to begin". And the line "as I close my eyes, like crimson curtains, slowly rising ...on an empty stage". I can almost feel, in my opinion, the anxiety of his going back in front of an audience. The song, to me, is about his fear of performing again and wondering how people will accept him after all the unsubstantiated public accusations. I am thrilled that his concern, about his acceptance from fans, has been laid to rest. He most certainly is aware that we are elated to have him "back in the stall, waiting for the show to begin"!! And we are out front...waiting and just as anxious!!!! ;D ;D LOVE IT!

Thanks for leading me to this song Richina. I'm listening now and I think it's dealing with fear at many levels. He's a deep and complex man, a dreamer and interpreter of dreams. Glad he's come out of his shell and sharing his concerns and his thought process with us again. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxv6g76IMlQ

I'm new here - but certainly not new to Cat I think The Rain is awesome. It blows everything else on the CD away (IMHO) although I think the entire CD is great.

I love 'Welcome Home', the voice just kicks in so beautifully and warm. I also love 'In this Glass World' and 'To Be what You Must'. Does anyone else think the chords on 'All kinds of Roses' are reminiscent of George Harrison's 'Hare Krishna'? I like it a lot.

Does anyone else think the chords on 'All kinds of Roses' are reminiscent of George Harrison's 'Hare Krishna'? I like it a lot. I was listening to the chords specifically and yes, they are very much the notes of ISKCON's most popular Hare Krishna chant.

Chuck, believe it or not, that is my least favorite song on the album, but you already know I am out there on the edge! Always have to be a tad bit different!

That's one of my favours maybe it's because it about roses, gardens and then i see childeren running tru that garden .And all this different kind of people in his live who shows him how they love him but ofcause God who is living in his heart ;everything is there to make Yusuf happy and oke and he is telling us that in a simple song Regine

I understand your sentiment Regine, but I think it is too simple. And I'm sure music aficionados will say "the song's beauty is in its' simplicity", that's fine, just not quite what I like. And let me promise you, there ain't much Yusuf does that I don't like!!

Just wondering - I know Yusuf himslf has said that An Other Cup was maybe a bit overproduced, but I actually prefer it to Roadsinger. Does anyone else? I love The Beloved (almost as much - or equal to The Rain). But the rest of the Roadsinger isn't as good as An Other Cup (to me). This is off topic - sorry. Just wondering if i am alone in this belief. An Other Cup feels like one gigantic prayer to me. And why is his music such a "religious" experience anyway? There is no other artist that touches me in this way. He always has - even as a little girl. His music made me feel in touch with my soul/God.
Sorry for going off topic so drastically here...but he is was/is amazing. That's it. I'm done now.

I take it all back. Roadsinger is awesome and I always say dumb things that I later regret. My favorite song on this CD is All Kinds of Roses now, which was initially my least favorite. Followed really, really closely by Dream On (love the sax)...I wish Dream on was longer.
Has anybody else out there changed their minds about All Kinds of Roses?

I have always loved All Kinds of Roses. It reminded me of George Harrison's Hare Krishna. It has the simplicity of a spiritual chant. You were talking about The Beloved in an earlier post-I absolutely love that song!
