Someone had to ask this question, right? lol.
The album is pretty much flawless, but if I absolutely had to choose a favorite song, it would probably be "The Rain". I've been listening to it on repeat for an hour now. The song's lyrics are brilliant, and Yusuf's performance is out of the world.
Ok, your turn!

I am sorry but I have to say that I think "The Rain" is one of the worst tracks on the album.
My favourites are Roadsinger, Thinkin' Bout You, Welcome Home and All Kinds Of Roses. Some of the others are too slow for me.
His voice is good after all this time but a few of the songs just don't appeal to me. Could possibly grow on me the more times I hear them.
Dont wish to upset anyone and I know a lot of you wont agree with me but just thought i'd write in.
Incidentally my favourite cd of his is Mona Bone Jakon.

My favorite song has to be World o' Darkness, I loved it the first time I heard it on the Chris Isaak show and it is still my favorite after hearing the rest of the CD. . ;D

Is it just me, or is Roadsinger full of hidden jewels?
My favorite two songs have to be All Kinds of Roses and Be What You Must. The chords for All Kinds of Roses are so good, they can not be described by words. It's been a while since a song has brought tears to my eyes. Be What You Must is also beautiful, easy going but profound.

I love 'Be what you must,' 'Roadsinger' and 'Thinkin' about you' (hell I love all the tracks!!) but my favourite would have to be "Welcome Home"
But I have to tell you Shamsia is also beautiful (The same music is also at the end of World O'Darkness and Be what you must)- it is just so haunting.... it's very sad but I love it.

I picked up my copy Thursday...deluxe ed. with booklet, dvd and disk. Have had it on in the car since then! I was interested to hear the direction Yusuf was taking the new album. Having heard of the people he worked with on it, I was looking forward to hearing it. I actually thought that the tunes on An Other Cup were catchier. RS has some good things on it, for sure. For me, the title track is best - sums up Yusuf's career in about 4 minutes! The whole album has a harder edge, and a darker feel to it - interesting given Yusuf is so often talking about "the light". "Shamsia" was sort of interesting, but I didn't think it was that great. "Thinking 'Bout You" is good too. Just a note- wasn't it strange that the DVD features an interview with Yusuf and Alun Davies (which was kinda boring) and yet Alun doesn't appear on the album?

Has anyone noticed that the piano intro to "Be what you must" is the same piano intro for one of Cat's early tunes?

Roadsinger is my favorite off of the CD.... several others might have reached #1, like Welcome Home...
but in my humble opinion, they have too much going on in the background.
Over produced isn't the right term, but it is almost like someone at the mixing board decided to add too many instruments or background.

I have noticed that a few tunes sound similar to old songs. I Like "All kind of roses" as I love the music in between the words. and I like "Where do you go"?

I haven't bought it yet... so is this the regular CD or the Deluxe version? I'm not even sure if the Deluxe version is for sale here in the states. Thanks Sue!

"Thinking 'Bout You" is my favorite... by a scant nose over several others. To this set of ears, at least, 'Roadsinger', like the artist who created it, is truly standing the test of time. In fact, if we were back in the 'olden days' of LP's, I would be well into the process of transforming its 'grooves' into 'smoothes' (if there is such a word!) as often as I play it. Thank goodness for this new-fangled age of compact discs, computers and mp3 players! Sincerely, Bud

Boy, do I feel like an outsider...I haven't got the C.D. yet....I know..I know....I was waiting for the price to go down...here, in the States of America, the lowest was $21.99. I hope it went down a bit. The reviews are excellent. It talks about the old Cat/Yusuf, and, I like that. If you look at the 60's, he is one of a few that not only has survived, but is flourishing. Not just his music, but his humanitarian efforts. James Taylor, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, just to name a very few, that are still making music, and still performing to both the very young and old alike. Greg.
