Hello fellow majicatters,
I'm freshly new here, and decided to start my first topic in this section where, I think, its a very nice 'web area' to discuss those lovely songs of the best songwriter ever.
If I can thank someone every minute in my life, she certainly would be lady Patti D'arbanville, because she was the major inspiration for Steve to write those lovely songs during his period of hospitalization, which turned out later to be his most successful hits.
I can write down a few songs (great songs) where Patti where the center of the lyrics:
Lady D'arbanville Can't say so much, because the song talks about itself..
Wild World I think all those who listen to Yusuf know very clearly that this song is written when he was trying to come back again, and centered on Patti. Note the lyrics: "But if you wanna leave, take good care, I hope you have a lot of nice things, to wear "
Maybe You're Right This song reflects how hard their relationship was going, and you can feel how he and she have a lot of debate regarding her move to New York.
Heard-Headed Woman This song reflects how he was disappointed after she left, and how he started to view his relationships more seriously in a way that correspond to his new kinda life.
A Bad Penny Lyrics: "Oh it was not so long ago Since you wandered out of here To become a silver model Of a city on the air So don’t choke me with your lies Because this man has open eyes And I can see"
I think there are for sure more songs written by Yusuf about his relationship with Patti, but these listed above are obvious enough. Please share any song that you believe it belong to this list.
Please forgive me for the bad writing style, but English isn't my primary language.
Peace...

I've sometimes wondered if "Tuesday's Dead" was written because Patti left Cat for Mick Jagger, and Mick sang "Ruby Tuesday," (even though Keith Richards wrote it for Linda Keith). So, maybe TD was a way for Cat to express his anger. What do you think?

you could be onto something Suncatcher.
So yes - I would gladly give Patti a huge hug and thank you!! (if I wasn't so darn envious) But then you'd also have to thank all his other muses, as well as his so called dog, extraterrestrial beings, the London Theater, Mama Cass, drugs, a couple of near death experiences, the moon in Spain, the on-going search for truth and light, drugs, oxygen, numerology, Jamaica, Greece, God...Yoriyos' guitar! Thank you to everyone and everything that has ever/will ever inspire this man to write his amazing music! I would not want to imagine my world without it.
And what could Patti have been thinking/smoking to leave Cat for Mick? Oh my...blows my mind.

So, maybe TD was a way for Cat to express his anger. What do you think? Maybe and maybe not!!- Actually I can't tell. But Tuesday's Dead for me is just the essence of his mosaic view of himself, life, ethics, urbanization, people, religion and other irrelevants. It's a reflection of social changes that happened during the 60's and progressed after, especially when he says: Now, what’s my sex, what’s my name? All in all it’s all the same, Everybody plays a different game That is all
But sure Patti could be referred to somewhere between lines,

Patti must've lost her mind, but let me say, as much as I want to thank her because she inspired this man to write 'Wild World', I'm also not sorry for her, because after all she's not his hard-headed woman.

Obviously Cat killed her lyrically in Lady D'arbonville. I think Wild World is also an extremely bitter song. If you think of it conversationally, saying to someone, "if you want to leave take good care, I hope you have a lot of nice things to wear..." That would be a very uncomfortable moment. Cat said, in an interview, of the two times he was in love, when it ended it tore him to pieces. I think he had a very hard time getting over it.

If Cat was in love "two times" and Patti D'Arbanville represents one time, then who represents the other time? I thought of Carly, but I don't think he was so deeply in love with her . . . I suppose I should already know this, but I don't. Please help.

He probably fall into her during the 'Days of the old school yard', someone that 'Never could be his' whom 'when it comes to love him she's worse' ... she's maybe his 'First cut' ... or his 'image of hell' ... she's the one who made him run to 'Granny' for help, because she had driven him wild...
