There are lots of songs he sings that I love the sounds he adds… The sound of the musical instruments are not enough he just has to have a sound of some kind added… The first song I experienced his wonderful sounds was on Wild World with his, “La la la laas” He had freedom to express in any way the sounds had to come out… What are your favorite songs and sounds he makes… you could even make it a guessing game if you like...

The "la la la la la" in The Artist.
One of the best instrumentals EVER.

My favorite song is How Can I Tell You and the sound he makes is the "sound of silence." The first "sound of silence" I notice occurs in these lines: I long to tell you that I'm always thinking of you I'm always thinking of you, but my words just blow away, ***** just blow away I expect to hear "words" a second time, but they're not there - as if they've indeed blown away. The second "sound of silence" occurs in these lines: And whoever I'm with, I'm always, always talking to you I'm always talking to you, and I'm sad that you can't hear, sad that you can't hear The second hear is inaudible - you can't hear it! I love the way Cat sang and played the meanings of his songs - words, voice, and music in perfect unison. ~Sun~

No doubt about it, but my favorite has been mentioned - the part of "Into White"..especially when he would do this "ahhhhh" part when it was performed live back then

In the new song "To be what you must" (I absolutely reject the criticism it has received, I actually quite like it!) there's this great segment in the middle where Yusuf harmonises with the children's choir beautifully with oohs and ahs, it's wonderful!

"I don't want no God I'm alone" from Longer boats live. I like the way he sings that. Also all " Dont be shy" I always thought that line was I don't want no God on my lawn just a flower, I can help along..... Am I wrong?

There's a few great sounds in the songs of Cat Stevens, starting with his early 1960s albums. Take for instance the last track on Side One of his LP Matther And Son, when he sings "I See A Road. He sings the bit that goes like this: Where self music plays out in the country Out of the way, WE'LL MAKE LOVE and then "Yeah! It almost sounds like he's meowing in that song.

I think in "Longer Boats, the verse really reads this:
I don't want no God on my lawn, not I don't want no God I'm alone, so that's the right words
Here's a couple more Cat sounds
On the song "Portobello Road, Cat starts whistling, and then in the middle verse, he's doing it through the instrumental break.

The "La da na la, na da la's…" on 'Pop Star'. And though they're not sound verses (and do not appear on the official printed lyrics) I like the way he exclaims "Here comes the Cat!" and "Oh, So Good!" on the same song. Neat topic, wind! Sincerely, Bud

In Changes IV, Cat is going like this "Whoa, whoa whoa, whoa, oah oah-oah, and then like this: Mmm, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

On the Boy With The Moon And Star song, there's a few la's that Cat does on this
La la la la la la la la la la la la la.......la la la la. He sort of sings the high notes, and drops a key down low on the last four "la's on the song.

And how about sounds that go like this:
In the song "Time" from Mona Bone Jakon, Cat sings the line,"Back, I'm going back, Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, going back, before singing Fill My Eyes.
