Hi everyone,
This if my first official post on this board, which I love by the way! Forgive me if people have already discussed this song, but I was wondering if anyone knows if there's a story behind C79. It sounds like he's talking to a young boy about the relationship he had with her mother when she was a groupie in his younger days as a performer.
I hadn't heard the song until I watched the Majikat DVD and it's really grown on me!

I think theres something mentioned in the liner notes of the box set about this. I'll check it out later. I did wonder why Cat cut out the first verse(Sun is the Reason) during the concert.

Welcome to Majicat, Andrea,
Vivian. I think the first part of the song, "Sun is the Reason' is the best part of the song. I really wish he would have continued with this train.
Sun is the reason And the world it will bloom Cause sun lights the sky And the sun lights the moon
Sun is the reason All the happy trees are green Then who can explain The light in your dream

I think it is suppose to represent a hotel room number or apartment number.

As far as I can make out "C/79" is Row "C" in an arena and the seat number is "79" so the girl was sitting in "C/79" in the concert arena where the show was taking place.

I think it is suppose to represent a hotel room number or apartment number. Christine, I too, in the back of my mind had "Suite" somewhere in the lyrics! So I have just listened to Buddha and Majicat versions I think I have found where the confusion has arisen, In Buddha and the Chocolate Box, printed lyrics, the last verse it says "Suite 79" but Cat, definately sings C79. So, who ever typed the lyrics is to blame!!! Just goes to show, especially when you first get the album and you read something, it sticks in your mind and you just never let it go!!! Seat C79, does make far more sense thought Thanks Juliette

It's especially clear [to me, at any rate] on Majikat. The lyrics are written that way every place I've ever seen them written out, as well--including in the Majicat lyrics section! joni...

Hey Sue that had to be the reason I thought of a suite, good catch. Seat c/79 does sound much more logical, especially as Milan said, the guy met her back stage. I guess he is just trying to confuse us. ha ha ;D

She was a junkie and he was having a good time!!!!
Reminds me of my cousin who was a "successful" groupie. She married the drummer in the Iron Butterfly "Inna Gadda Da Vida Baby"..... then the manager of Black Oak Arkansas. She had six children by three different men, all beautiful. Her name was Connie. Pix on myspace.com/sueinhollywood. I could tell a milion stories........
Who knows maybe Cat Stevens had her too...

I LOVE MY CAT AS MUCH AS I LOVE YOU I LOLed at this. Alright, the debate's over and settled, so all that's left is for me to say I like this one a lot. Paul McCartney reused the idea of, where does the light in your dreams come from?... but I forget which song offhand. Oh yes... "Ou Est Le Soleil?" (Where is the sun?): Ou Est Le Soleil dans la tete? -or- where is the sun in the head?
