Did someone already mention this? Can't remember... Anyway, Zain Bhika and others singing Silent Sunlight a la "la illa ha illa llah..." (I think it's Zain Bhika) Very nice. Go here: www.mountainoflight.co.uk/talks.html# (bottom of the page, "Peace Notes") and then go to #3: " To Speak Good" to hear the song. Very nice! I always wanted Silent Sunlight to be done again! One of the most BEAUTIFUL Cat songs ever.

Yes of course! Dawud Wharnsby... I should've realized. I haven't heard much of him but now I realize I know him from 'Last Prophet'.
That reminds me.. I still need to buy Bismillah! Man am I behind on my music purchases...
Thanks Viv.

This guy Dawud Wharnsby is pretty good.. his voice is really crisp, reminds me of James Taylor. He's a real talent. I found some more of his stuff on (where else!) UTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuKCda-cFewIt would be great to see more cooperation between him and Yusuf.

He has... They have... Goood voice, good harmony... But I like Cat's original the best... Might be interesting if they all performed it together

I know this is not exactly the right thread, but did anyone catch the BBC 2 Radio interview with Dawud Wharnsby this morning? It was mentioned on the Beloved Musika website, but I can't find the interview on the BBC 2 Radio website. Maybe it's too soon? Dawud's so talented, with a beautiful, expressive voice. . . ~Sun~

It's on the BBC site Sun. Good Morning Sunday is a great little radio show. Multi faith, you can wake up to Gospel music or hymns or this morning's guest Dawud Wharnsby. A nice interview and live song: www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/goodmorningsun/

The show is two hours long -I'll try to post the time of Dawud Wharnsby's interview after I listen (sounds like he'll be up first, though.) ~Sun~

Yes, Mawa, George is a hero of mine - he finds all kinds of neat stuff! I listened to the interview with Dawud Wharnsby - it starts around the 16:36 mark. Dawud's inspirational - very much into multi-faith, peace-making, one-world type of things. He says that he "loves Yusuf Islam and his music," including his music as Cat Stevens! Dawud performs "The Truth That Lies Inside" at around 16:36. It's a beautiful performance. It's from his new album, Out Seeing the Fields which is out on the Beloved Musika music label. Beloved Musika is a division of Yusuf Islam's Jamal Records. You'll also find Yusuf and Yoriyos at Beloved Musika. You can hear clips and read the lyrics from Out Seeing the Fields here (click on POETRY & WORDS for the lyrics). Very, very nice songs. . . ~Sun~

Thanks Sun!! Blushing but proud ;D
Glad to help out.
It's worth sticking with the entire programme as at the end there's an interesting interview and message from Linda Thompson.
Peace out
George

Hey y'all! I love the Silent Sunlight song! It's one of my faves! ;D Here's the lyrics of Dawud Wharnsby Ali's version: Silent Sunlight Lailahaillaallah Lailahaillaallah Silent sunlight, Welcome in, There is work I must now begin. All my dreams have blown away, And the children wait to play. They’ll soon remember, Things to do when the heart is young, And the night is done, And the sky is blue. Lailahaillaallah Lailahaillaallah Morning songbird sing away, Learn the tune to another day. Bring your wings and choose a groove, Sing a song of love and truth. We’ll soon remember if you do, When all things were tall, And our friends were small, And the world was new. Lailahaillaallah Lailahaillaallah Sleepy horses heave away, Put your backs to a golden hay. Don’t ever look behind at the work you’ve done, For your work has just begun. They’ll be the evening in the end, But till that time arrives , You can rest your eyes and begin again. Lailahaillaallah, Silent sunlight, Lailahaillaallah, Morning song, Lailahaillaallah, Silent sunlight, Welcome in! Peace Xalvadora

This song always swells a sea of emotions inside of me. It then brings a flood of tears streaming down my face.
As all CAT/ YUSUF songs, they touch you in a very personal way.
The new version, quite pleasant to listen, but there's always something missing when someone else does a CAT/YUSUF song and that's his unique voice.......downunder72
