Yusuf Islam 6 CD box set

I was considering asking my husband to buy me this set for my birthday since I don't have any of these albums however; I could not find a review other than this below pasted Editorial Review from the seller (Amazon). Does anyone know if these songs are: sung in English, mostly verses of the Qur'an set to music, etc. Although I cannot imagine NOT enjoying it, I can't ask for something that expensive that I will not like. Does anyone have this set who can give me their review?

Hi, Philothea!
To my knowledge, some of these songs are in Arabic and other languages, and many are in English. When there is a verse from Quran, it's recited, but not sung. Some CDs are spoken-word with songs in between. If my memory serves me, the CDs contain nasheeds, which means songs with percussion only.

The Yusuf Islam 6 CD Box Set is under a Turkish label, and no real product description is given. This makes me wonder if it will be the quality that we’ve grown used to from Yusuf, and I also wonder if it will contain the wonderful books and lyrics that the individual CDs come with. Maybe someone else at Majicat knows for sure?

Anyway, I put together this list which gives an url and brief description for each of the individual 6 CDs. Many of the urls have track listings, clips to listen to, and reviews. The CDs are religious, and they may not be your cup of tea, but they’ve gotten some really great reviews. The first 4 CDs are also available at Mountainoflight.com and Jamalrecords.com. 1. Life of the Last Prophet
The influence of Muhammad's (pbuh) prophethood is visible in everything that the world now contains: beliefs and patterns of thought, culture and civilization, morals and modes of living, knowledge and learning. In short, all spheres of human endeavor. Strange indeed, therefore, that so many people on the face of the earth today have little or no knowledge of the life and mission of this last great Prophet of God and his historical impact on the world that we live in.
This spoken-word recording of The Life of the Last Prophet is the first official release by Yusuf Islam since his departure from the music business as Cat Stevens back in 1978. The biography is fully authenticated and approved by an international group of scholars and contains selected verses of the Quran, recited by the renonwned Egyptian Qari(reciter), Shaikh Muhammad Al-Minyaoui. It also includes the song Tala'a al-Badru Alayna, and a beautiful rendition of the adhan (call to prayer).


2. Prayers of the Last Prophet
Prayers of The Last Prophet is the follow-up to the hugely successful Life of the Last Prophet, and contains a collection of du’as (prayers/supplications) as used by the Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him). (Also contains some songs.)

3. A is for Allah
20 years in the making, with 8 songs - most of which Yusuf wrote and one he performs. Yusuf explains the basics of his faith through the vehicle of the 28 letter Arabic alphabet. This album will accompany the 68 page full colour hardback book of the same name- which contains the complete text as well as all the lyrics.

I Look I See contains nine lively and inspirational songs for children. With short teaching inserts between songs it is a new and melodic approach to helping children learn the beauty of Creation, good morals, and love for God and His final messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Yusuf Islam sings the title song and is accompanied by his young friends from South Africa and Britain, including Zain Bhikha's 9-year-old son Rasheed who features on many of the tracks.

5. Bismillah
With a line-up of the world's premiere English nasheed artists, this compilation contains eighteen songs praising God, presenting classics as well as new songs. Titles include 'God is The Light', 'Sifat 20', 'Allah Ta'ala', 'Syukur', 'Which of Allah's Favours Can We Deny?' and the Cat Stevens classic, ‘The Wind.’

6. Yusuf Islam & Friends - In Praise of The Last Prophet
This collection of songs extolling the Last Prophet (peace be upon him) is an attempt to portray and fortify the love that every Muslim should have for the Messenger and which is essential. Love of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is something the early Muslims overflowed with and is something we should try to emulate.
