What a fantastic song for a young man, or woman. I have great memories of this song. It was a ritual for me to play it as me and mates went off on surfing trips down the coast in the HQ holden (australian reference) Sitting in the front passenger seat, my guitar neck would be hanging out the window as we sped down the highway (towards Byron Bay) with everyone singing along in their hardest rockiest voice.... MILES FROM NOWHERE...yea... Hey hand me another beer Miles from nowhere I guess Ill take my time Oh yeah, to reach there Look up at the mountain I have to climb Oh yeah, to reach there. Lord my body has been a good friend But I wont need it when I reach the end Miles from nowhere Guess Ill take my time Oh yeah, to reach there I creep through the valleys And I grope through the woods cause I know when I find it my honey Its gonna make me feel good I love everything So dont it make you feel sad cause Ill drink to you, my baby Ill think to that, Ill think to that. Miles from nowhere Not a soul in sight Oh yeah, but its alright I have my freedom I can make my own rules Oh yeah, the ones that I choose Lord my body has been a good friend But I wont need it when I reach the end Miles from nowhere Guess Ill take my time Oh yeah, to reach there.

It's my favourite song on Tea For The Tillerman as well, glad others feel the same!
Michael, those memories sound awesome! I wish most other people my age shared my taste in music so I could experience the same thing.

What we need is a doof cover of a cat song... I think O Caritas would work well. That might at least pique some interest

That might at least pique some interest Haha, actually, what's frustrating is that my friends like a lot of acoustic folk stuff. But for some reason if it's old they have a different attitude to it. It has to be contemporary for them to feel connected, even if it's the same sort of style and production. So stupid. Luckily most of my friends either like Cat or can at least appreciate him, but it would still be nice if more were open to music from the past. -John...

Yes it has always been a thing with young people. I was the same. When young minds really start to discover music it is natural for them to gravitate to what is happening now. They consider it to be "their music" There is also the generation rebellion thing. "I'm not even gonna consider that stuff cause my mum and dad listen to it" Keep chipping away at your friends, they will come round though it may take years

showing your age there, cristalina... Lol,I know terrible isn't it. I was talking to my sister earlier today who'd bumped into someone she hasn't seen since she was 15, he recognised her and said she hadn't changed abit. I said "What , you mean he thought you'd always looked 54?" ;D

I LOVE this particular song. The mood of this song is generally the mood I'm in & I always feel miles from no where & have felt it all my life. I don't think you haved to be young to feel this way, you know some of us are still growing up

Taking one's time when one has so little of it is necessary but insane at the same time.

I love the Lord my body line as well. The body as a good friend. Cool concept.
