Now that Carly Simon has come out with this album, I think I remember on this board a discussion or someone mentioning that CS was coming down from an acid trip when he wrote this song. Does anyone remember this and if so can you refresh my memory. Being that she was an ex of his, in my warped mind I'm trying to somehow link one to the other. Thanks

I remember reading this, but can't remember where. I'm glad they remained friends through the years.
Peace,Vivian

I did a whole interpreation of this song on CS.com years ago... when I get a chance I'll recall/repost it here. Had nothing to do with drugs.

I am almost certain that only about a month ago there were a few members who mentioned that it was acid induced. I guess I'll try to look back through some of the posts.

Yup both Stories are true! I believe what Lennon said on camera, was that is was a picture drawn by Julian of his school friend 'lucy in the sky with diamonds' and only after the record was released the media made the link to LCD. of course he also admitted to taking the drug too. Personally i think he was aware of the connection coz he was a bit of a cheeky chappy and did enjoy the old double meanings to things..(please please me etc) I remember reading a Playboy interview(I used to like their articles) with Lennon, one of his last, in which he stated that Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds was written while he was on an acid trip. As far as Cat, he stated he was coming down from an acid trip and took comfort in seeing a white blanket of snow when he left a house, which led to Into White. Found it. OK, so it was longer than a month ago. On page 3 in this Forum.
