I often said it's hard for me to pick just one song and place it on top of my personal chart, but I also always stated that 'Catch Bull at Four' is my fav Cat album MAINLY for that song. Amazing lyrics (that's no surprise), Cat always foreseeing what would be a constant source of inspiration for artists in the whole world (i.e. environmental causes), a true folkie ballad with that huge drum break by Gerry Conway which makes it so unusual... And...don't stop that sun to shine, it's not yours or mine sums up a lot of my...ideology (can I say this?). Nature and also humans don't belong to anyone else but THEMSELVES, human rights and natural rights don't differ from nation to nation, OBJECTIVE THINGS WILL NEVER TURN TO BEING SUBJECTIVE. Sorry for this wee socio-political output, that's what this song means to me.

A brilliantly poignant song. Possibly he is singing about what the world is to him and how its serenity has slowly become tainted by death and destruction. It seems that Cat could see the good in all people however often they could be mislead and cause such disaster. Just a thought

I disagree; Sitting is simply brilliant & his best with the amount of emotion he manages to express

Absolutely his best song. Completely underrated album and song. Lyrically and instrumentally top notch

And so you have reached the tenth bull stage of Zen with the tenth song on the album. You have travelled to the airport and rode the bull in song six. You ascended in song seven and died in song eight. You returned from death in song nine and were transfigured. In song ten you took up the task to teach to your fellow man about the beauty of life and the world. Catch Bull at Four will probably be one of the few albums listened to in five hundred years time. After all, it is based on the art work and poetry of the 13th century Zen monk Kakuan. A great Canadian writer once told me that a great artist is a GREAT THIEF!!!!!!
10. in the world ten bulls
Barefooted and naked of breast, I mingle with the people of the world. My clothes are ragged and dust-laden, and I am ever blissful. I use no magic to extend my life; Now, before me, the dead trees become alive.
Comment: Inside my gate, a thousand sages do not know me. The beauty of my garden is invisible. Why should one search for the footprints of the patriarchs? I go to the market place with my wine bottle and return home with my staff. I visit the wineshop and the market, and everyone I look upon becomes enlightened.
