I wasn't sure where to post this but after getting encouragment from a few people, here's my own instrumental cover version of "How Can I Tell You", recorded on April 19 2008 with a second guitar mix done today. Some of you might remember the intro from way back on the cover song section of cs.com, composed it 10 years ago in fact. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgeBS8U1pqwI hope you enjoy it. Please excuse the couple flub ups. BTW, my stage name is "Mr Sunshine"!!! ROTFLOL

That was excellent!! Plus it is nice to see others up on you tube. Also to see what you look like. Before I was just picturing you as Glaucus the old man. Keep them coming if you have them.

Wow, blushing!! Thank you all for your nice comments, feedback and compliments. With such a warm reception from mes amis, there will possibly be more on the way. To answer Kris about adding the second guitar, I had playback of the first track in my headphones, recorded the second track on DVD-RW, converted to wav files and mixed both tracks with a simple audio program named GoldWave. I thought it would be long and difficult to do but I was lucky this time, the mix was perfect on the first attempt! Thanks again all!

It is taking me some time to get to everything that is on this site, and I just found this. Glaucus - WOW! I must admit that I do not have a wide tolerance for covers. Nothing against the person doing them; I just always like the first version of a song I heard better. This, however, is beautiful! I noticed on YouTube that someone asked if she could use the recording at her wedding. Did she get to do that? It's just perfect!

Thank you for your kind words Jane. I did send that lady an MP3 of the cover, don't know if she used it or not. In any case, I was flattered that she asked.

Glaucus, Thanks so much for recording this and sharing it with us. You know the kind of time I've spent figuring out how this song was played. It's my very favorite Cat Stevens song and your cover is just beautiful. Like JaneB, I don't usually care for most covers but yours is fantastic. Sorry it's taken so long to find this but I haven't been here for a while.

Thank you so much for your comments here and on YT Gino. Being a perfectionist, there are a couple of passages I would have liked to be more polished, but eh, the important thing is thatI was playing from the heart. I think it's easier to play for me since it's also my favourite Cat Stevens song. "How Can I Tell You" along with a couple of other songs is right up there in my top 5 of all time. Life changing songs, you know, the ones that stay with you always. Like this one (link below) called "Aspri Mera" written by Stavros Xarhakos/ Nikos Gkatsos and sung here by Miss Nana Mouskouri: ca.youtube.com/watch?v=AFMef8T3Oi4Both songs (How Can I Tell You and Aspri Mera) are indissociable for me. Melodically and emotionally. Sorry for rambling.... thanks again.

Glaucus Any chance of having a MP3 copy of that second guitar mix. Thanks Funny you should ask. Someone else has asked me the same thing a week ago. I haven't been able to locate the audio files I made for that video. Knowing me, they probably got deleted or something. ARGH! Anyway, if I have some free time later this fall, I might re-record them. I'll let you know if I do. Thanks.

A great job, Glaucus, You have used the basic chords, but created a lovely arrangement all of your own, weaving in the melody. Very well done, and beautifully played.
