With the passing of Kate McGarrigle I have re-immerse myself into the wonderfull music of the duo she formed with her sister Anna. Here's a cover I recorded a couple of days ago of one of Kate's French songs "Cheminant A La Ville". It's nice to cover somethin in French. I usually don't do vocals, I am not a singer... please keep that in mind if you listen to it ! www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CRDAgkNLZEYou'll find lyrics on the right side of the YT page by clicking on "more info". Hope you like it!

Thank you for sharing. I received an e-mail from my friend in Ireland indicating her death and the amount of times that he had gone to see her.
I have no familiarity at all - but this is the second posting. Thank you...

Many thanks Maya and Marge for the kind words on this non-Cat cover of mine. I must say it has been very well received by friends and family. Gosh, I've got cousins and other family members coming out of the woodwork with nice comments about it. Thanks for listening!

Hi glaucus, I just had the pleasure of listening to your cover of "Cheminant A La Ville". While I may not be a cousin (although you can certainly consider me to be an 'American cousin', if you wish, and, in any case, most certainly a friend), I want you to know how thoroughly I enjoyed your recording! Truly a wonderful rendition. Thank you! -Bud

I want you to know how thoroughly I enjoyed your recording! Truly a wonderful rendition. Many thanks Bud! Your freezing Canadian cousin! Brrrrr You're quite welcome, glaucus! It's quite frigid (again) in the mid-Atlantic region of the U.S., and, really, clear across the entire country, as well. What a cold, cold winter it's been, and with snow falling around the globe in amounts, and in places, it hasn't in decades. Well, in the meanwhile, keep warm the best you are able to, cousin! -Bud

Oh Wow!! I just found the following video recently posted on YT. The original song, performed by Kate and Anna in concert, circa 1981. Big time chills and goose bumps: Thank you, Glaucus. I just listened to both, and it only goes to show what a great job you did - your version is as pretty as theirs, even though they have backup musicians and harmonies. It was cool, because as I was listening, the guy who posted the original Kate McGarrigle song responded to your comment on YouTube. Alas, I can't understand the words - I'm constantly reminded that I should have been a better student when I studied French. I played both versions of the song at one time, just to hear how you sound together. I don't have a good ear, but I suspect you play it in a different key? Still, it was amazing how similar they are. Both are around 2 minutes 15 seconds long. Anyway, terrific find. Thanks for sharing. ~Sun~ P.S. Your video has the message, "Embedding disabled by request Watch on YouTube." Do you know why?

Many thanks Sun for your kind words. I basically said thank you to the YT poster and asked where and when that clip was shown on TV. He/she replied that it was taken from a 1995 VHS that he/she had just transferred to DVD and posted it on YT as a tribute. And yes, I do play it a couple of keys higher to suit my voice abilities.

May I say that I, too, just finished listening to both of the YouTube presentations of this beautiful song. The recording that I just finished listening to was truly excellent, delivered with stellar musicianship and a most superb voice. Oh, and the other version, by The McGarrigle Sisters, was pretty darn pleasing, as well. Taking nothing away from the always great Kate and Anna, glaucus, but I'm with Sun: your performance was nothing short of terrific, and it was a pleasure to view and listen to your work again. Continued "Bravo's" and "Thank you's", glaucus, you are truly a gifted artist! -Bud
