Hello rsl, I bid you a warm welcome to Majicat! The only Cat concert venue and performance date in Rhode Island that I could find occurred at the Providence Civic Centre on April 30th, 1974 (during Cat's "Bamboozle" tour). I'll continue to research this! -Bud

Knowing there are fellow-Majicatters who are not ony better web-surfers and researchers than yours truly, but true Cat Stevens/Yusuf 'walking encyclopedias', as well, it is quite possible that the information that you seek is forthcoming! Again: "Welcome to Majicat!" -Bud

Hello rsl and buddy Bud!
I also tried to research it last night but came up empty. It's too bad we don't have the complete roster for the 1972 tour (and 1971). I'm sure Yusuf and associates must have the list somewhere in their personal archives. It would be a nice addition to the Majicat timeline.
Personally, if there was one tour I would have liked to attend it was the 1972 one (although I would have had to travel to Toronto since Cat didn't want to play in Montreal at that time for reasons I never could elucidate). The whole setting for the 72 tour seemed perfect, with a small string section and his regular nucleus of musicians. The Curtis Hixon Hall (Tampa) taped concert sounds so nice.
Sorry I digress. Hope someone can come up with that list!

I also came up pretty empty. The only relevant thing I can add is the 3-8-76 show, also in Providence (Majikat Tour).

Your comments and reminiscences about Cat's '72 tour were very illuminating. I, for one and for instance, never knew that his regular line-up for that concert swing was augmented with a string section. Thank you, Charles. As always, the information that you share is top-notch! -Bud

Here's a small snippet from my own personal Cat Stevens timeline: 1972 - September 29: 31-date North American Tour with first concert at Shrine Auditorium, LA with supporting act Ramblin' Jack Elliott before a sold-out crowd of 6500. Stevens is accompanied by an 11 piece orchestra conducted by Del Newman. Tour to be ending in Toronto, Canada. Teaser cartoon shown during every show. I really wish there were more material made available from that tour. I'm under the impression that the live version of "On The Road To Find Out" we can find on the Deluxe edition of TFTT was taken from that tour (contrary to what it says on the box, it is NOT from the KCET mini concert). But I could be wrong.

Just to clear up the misinformation given on the Deluxe Version of Tea for the Tillerman about 'On the road to find out' supposedly being from the KCET Concert of 1971. The truth is that it is from Cat Stevens final Concert (and when he was actually going by the name of Yusuf Islam), the UNICEF 'Year of the Child' Concert 1979. Any one in doubt can verify this by listening to the UNICEF version - The whole concert is available in the music section here on Majicat (in the Real Player Video Section here: www.majicat.com/audio.htmor from the bootleg if you have it.
