Thanks, Jon! I have purchased from them as well, and their shipping rates to the US are not unreasonable. If you want the Australia DVD, are not in Region 4 and have a dual-layer DVD burner on your PC/laptop, I recommend getting this one and copying it so it plays on your DVD player. That is what I did instead of waiting for a North American release. $11.99 is a great price!

thank you Jonathan. Even tough I have the Roadsinger DVD (which I bought from that place), I'm tempted by the blu-ray. I wonder if the difference in image quality is worth it. Also, that Best of CD with bonus DVD.. I remember that release from a few years back. The info is probably somwhere on this site but anyone know from what show is each song?

Glaucus, the dvd has the annoyingly and seeming obligatory inclusion of the 'Teaser and the Firecat Cartoon Video', but apart from that, the remaining 6 comprise of 3 from the 'in concert' concert - the L.A. take NOT the 'Tea for the Tillerman Live' dvd which is the U.K. in concert (if memory serves as to the different concerts) - anyway, whichever in concert concert is NOT the Tea for the Tillerman live DVD, then that's what these 3 are from. They are 'Moonshadow', Wild World' and 'Father & Son' - which just goes to prove that the whole of that concert exists in decent form which should be released officially and in good quality. The best I've got of that whole concert is the DVD that came out before the re-release of the 'Tea for the Tillerman Live' DVD which was available via amazon.de and which I know some here bought and were happy with - including me, but I do remember one majicatter who seemed to receive a bit of a bum copy - either that or they expected it to be better. I know the copy I received was as good as the 'Tea for the Tillerman Live DVD' and contained both in concert versions (mistakes, laughter and a little chatting - one of my better buys that one. Actually, I shouldn't say 'buys' as it was a truly generous gift from a non majicatter Cat Stevens friend of mine who lives in Germany)! Similar tracks I'd imagine as the dvd you bought recently glaucus, but that aspect ratio prob you encountered seemed really weird! Anyway, the track 5 on this cd/dvd dvd portion is 'Hard Headed Woman' from the majikat earth tour - but shot a little differently to the actual majikat concert dvd and 6th is the gem of the lot and it's taken from the Granada 'Out Front' concert (and yet another inclusion of a video which would seem to suggest that this concert should somehow have been made an official release by now). So that just leaves the 7th video track of the 'Teaser Cartoon' All in all, even tho' it's a short compilation, it's a real nice bonus to the 24 track cd which, if you or others are interested to know, was remastered by Ted Jensen who also did most of the other remasters of the time, most notably the deluxe double album versions of 'Tea for the Tillerman' and 'Teaser and the Fierecat'. I sort of have mixed views on what he does. They sound good enough on basic sound equipment but kind of fall short of the mark on a nice system. My favourite remaster of his re Cat was of 'Mona Bone Jakon' I've never heard that CD sound so good! Anyway, there's my rant. I hope that helps. Bear in mind everyone reading here that this sale ends on Sunday in Australia, so, Saturday for the most part for residents like you C. in Canada and all U.S. folk and all and sundry living in the vicinity of similar U.S. time zones. Also bear in mind that this sale is brilliant and inclusive of ALL blu-rays, dvds, TV Shows and Box-sets! One more piece of information about Cat on 'SALE' is the unbeatable deluxe versions of Tea and Teaser - not at this same store, but from WOWHD which is an international free postage on everything always store. I'll post the U.S. store links here. Anyone interested from elsewhere, just change the store location from the drop down box at the top left of this site and search these or other items in the search facility. U.S. prices for either of these deluxe double album versions are currently 23% discounted and selling for U.S.22.99 each (free postage remember, so pretty good)! www.wowhd.us/CD/cat-stevens-tea-for-the-tillerman-deluxe-edition/dp/1615271#bc=4b8awww.wowhd.us/CD/cat-stevens-teaser-the-firecat-deluxe-edition/dp/129349#bc=4b8a

Oh, one other question I forgot to answer - best I can anyway, is that I didn't bother buying the DVD of Yusuf in Australia, at the time the blu-ray was a good price, so I went with that (well, I much prefer blu-rays anyway ). I can't therefore compare it against the DVD. However, I remember reading here (from most who bought and rated the dvd), that the DVD front cover appeared washed out. Not so with the Blu-ray and even tho' it seems odd that the blu-ray is 1080i and not 1080p as was advertised when I bought it, most blu-ray players upsample to 1080p anyway, so that's not a problem. The picture quality is faultless, so if the DVD didn't seem as good as it could've been Glaucus, I'd imagine you'd find the blu-ray version quite a bit more enjoyable. It also seems to be getting rare to find and amazingly over-priced if you do! Same goes for the best of CD/DVD I discussed above. I don't find it around very often, but if I do, it's over-priced $14.99 is great value! My copy cost me $35 AUD! but at the time I was so surprised and happy to see it in a store I grabbed it straight away. It was never advertised on TV here in Tas., although I did here somewhere that it was advertised in some of the other states and I think I saw and ad on the internet on youtube from an american tv ad! (all long after I bought my precious copy)! Off topic for this post, but nevertheless I'm amazed that with all the internet videos about - esp youtube, those few clips from paris of Cat & Alun (where Alun sits quietly smoking and listening intently and very approvingly of Cat performing 'Katmandu' solo), they ALL have that awful VHS video line running all the way through the 3 clips! I have all 3 in good quality - no video line defects at all. Surely, I'm not the only one with a good quality version of these great performances!?

Many thanks for all the info Jon. I went ahead and ordered the "Roadsinger/Live in Australia" blu-ray region B (hey, I have to make good use of my OPPO player after all!). Total with shipping is about $32 Canadian dollars (would be the same for USD). I remember getting the DVD from JB Hi-Fi in about a week, which is great for an item coming from down under.
Thanks again for posting the sale items.

Yeah, that's the POP2 mini-concert produced by the ORTF. Strange that you would mention this now because it is available this week for free viewing on the INA website, where you can also buy it to download for 2.99 Euros. I bought it some time ago and I believe the files were avi. Here's the link: www.ina.fr/visio

Sorry, this is a little off topic too!
Thank you for the tip about the POP2 mini concert - I'm delighted to have seen this in such a clearer form than the blurry, old one available on YouTube.
I see it's dated November (I think) 1970 - is this the first film footage of Cat with Alun, does anyone know?

I think that must've been how I got it a few years back. Not being able to understand french I just downloaded it - as can anyone who uses mozilla firefox and have 'download helper' installed from the mozilla add-on's page. Hey Mr C. (Glaucus), do you know if buying it gives an even better quality than that which you see on site? There's another documentary I got from there - the 'olympia' one - it's not all that well shot but good all the same. The download copy I got was I think half or even less the time of the over-all show, but I have a feeling that the paid for version was of other content and no more of Cat. Do you know anything more about this one either? I'm glad you get to make further use of your OPPO with the purchase of Yusuf live in Australia, but it didn't really work out all that cheap for you with postage... quite a shame. I can't remember if it said it was in stock when I first put up the link, but I see today that it says it's 'on order' so you may be waiting a couple of weeks instead of just one as you mentioned with your last order from them. It's never easy to know, sometimes they just get it from a nearby supplier and sometimes another branch of their store chain. That doesn't take long, so hopefully that's how this will be for you. It's funny, but since getting my OPPO, I've not bought that many region A discs and I've found that most of the collection I already have are for regions 'A, B and C', but, their are some exceptions which are handy - I guess it's been similar for you in reverse. However, it's nice to have a quiet and reliable player! Did you end up buying that Floyd SACD? There was a fantastic sale just after you wrote about the possibility and I would've p.m.'d you but wasn't well enough. I imagine you have surround sound too? And as a possible beside point to that, do you have the Quad DVD-Audio of 'Foreigner'? - I guess the other question would be, is it an album you like - personally I love 'Foreigner Suite' and I like 'How Many Times?' but usually skip the rest. The DVD-Audio version is just fantastic to hear in surround though - even if it's just 4 channel 'Quad' surround.

Oh, sorry Jo, I'd need to research that myself. It wasn't the first recorded audio event of a concert - bootlegged anyway, but I thought there was some film footage in april of 1970 if memory serves. Hopefully someone can answer this better for you. It may be a good question to ask again maybe in it's own thread in relation to the pop2 video glaucus kindly steered us to. I imagine some who may know might not be interested in viewing this particular thread and will miss your question. Good luck finding out - and even bigger hope and luck if you actually find some!!

Thank you, Jon, for taking the time to think about it anyway! I will take your advice and go and post it again somewhere else! I'm a relative newcomer to all things Cat, so I get a bit lost in admiration at the sheer depth of everyone's knowledge! Thanks again! Jo

Got the Australian blu-ray this morning (Yusuf live in Australia) and well... wow! That concert is fabulous looking and sounding in HD. Thanks again Jonathan for the heads up. I see that I owe you a few replies here, I'll do my best to do this soon.
