Currently Patti D is living somewhat quietly in the lovely, small town of Tryon, NC in a house she inherited from her mom. The interesting trivia is that one of Cat's favorite singers, Nina Simone, was born in Tryon, NC. Not many degrees of separation in this equation.

I NEVER believed that she LEFT him for Mick J. NOBODY is that crazy! I think that she just wasn't ready to settle down and wanted to have an acting career. Obviously, they were on very different trajectories. So, Richina, just when is the Open House in your museum, er . . . I mean home, for all the Majicat members? ;D

Since you are a walking encyclopedia on CS and PD, I will defer to your illustrious mountain of knowledge! And as far as opening the uh, museum.... when the boy comes to the states, PARTY AT MY HOUSE!!!!! PS And since you live just one state over Hyacinth....you gonna come help me clean house for the party??

Probably half of what I think about PD and Cat is totally wrong. That's why a certain someone should write a thorough autobiography and get it all out there, including the inspirations for his songs. But I don't think that's going to happen! Uh, Richina, I'm seeing a pattern here. I have to clean the loos at the London museum, and now I have to vacuum your museum, uh, place before the US tour PARTY. I'm still jockeying to lead someone on a guided tour of at least ONE of the two museums if you expect all this housework out of me!!

And okay, we'll come up with a suitable contest to determine "lead about" privileges for that special guest!! I know, we'll have a race!! and seeing as I'm so nice, you can go first.... then I'll catch up.... Sheesh, I run like a girl maybe I oughta rethink that plan....

Looks as if small town life has been good for this 61 year old mother of 4, and she's lost a few pounds (2nd from the right). I'm just wondering what she's doing with most of her time besides fund-raising to refurbish the town's mascot, Morris the Wooden Horse- is she writing?

I'm just wondering what she's doing with most of her time - is she writing? This has been posted before, from 2007. Some people didn't like the content but... what the heck.... "Patti D'Arbanville reads from Pamela Des Barres' new book 'Let's Spend the Night Together: Backstage Secrets of Rock Muses and Supergroupies' at Soho McNally Robinson on July 9 2007. The text concerns her own relationship with Cat Stevens back in the 60's"

Oh, dear. Yes, this was discussed before. As a Westerner, I don't find the story itself shocking - just adventurous young love. I bet many of us have fond memories of our own exploits, there was this time that I . . . but we don't televise them! I would think it would be uncomfortable for Yusuf if he knows of her blabbing it on camera, but perhaps he takes it in stride. She seems to do and say pretty much as she pleases, which makes her an interesting character; but she's also paid a price in her personal and professional life for this. And she'd be the first one to admit it. I think if her DNA were analyzed, she'd be found to be missing the "inhibition gene."

Patti singing "La chanson de Melissa" from naughty B-movie "Bilitis" directed by David Hamilton in 1977. Beautiful score by Francis Lai. The soundtrack was a huge seller back in the day and of course, every teenage boy would do anything to sneak in the theatre to see the sexy flick: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCenPUKefBY

This is the kind of uninhibited and therefore, to me, humorous comments PD makes. This is from a People magazine interview with her, April 3, 1989. "In 1975 she married French actor Roger Mirmont and became a junkie. 'I didn't want to be an alcoholic,' she says, 'so I decided to do drugs.' " Here's a recent self-reflection on her life . . . " ' We get to pretend for a living. What’s better than that?' said actress Patti D'Arbanville at her Performing Arts Master Class at Crites Hall [in Savannah], Nov. 1 [2010] . . . While she talked about exciting things in the industry, she didn’t shy away from the corruption that can come with success. She spoke with honesty about past drug problems. When asked if she had any regrets, she told the students, 'It took a long time to get rid of and come out of [addiction]. It’s a waste of f***ing time and energy. Nothing good ever comes out of it—ever. Don’t try anything; it’s all a gateway.' " Their relationship inspired some unbelievably beautiful songs, so we benefitted from their heartbreak. I'm just glad that Y. found happiness, and PD seems pretty resilient.

Thanks, Glaucus. I know of the movie Bilitis but hadn't seen this t.v. performance. I think she made an album in French? Hard to believe that at this time she was deep into heroin addiction, but she went cold turkey (I think the next year). She's had quite the life. She should have left the singing to Cat, though. Check your PMs. I'm sending you a message.

Wow! How interesting to know that Patti D. still has a place reserved in her heart and mind (and, apparently, too, at least an ember, or two, aglow) for Yusuf. Thank you for sharing this, Hy... It was great fun to read! -Bud

So as of last June, there will be no memoir from Patti D'Arbanville. I had read something she had written, which I am pretty certain was part of her memoir (NOT the same piece that she read from Pamela Des Barres's book on the YouTube video), and then there was nothing more from her. So this makes sense. "So she’s [P.D] settled. Sort of. And the time seems ripe for a tell-all. But when it came to writing a memoir, D’Arbanville’s conscience trumped her creative urge. 'I got to 100 pages and realized my relationships and life are one and the same — inseparable, private, sacred,' she says." www.vervemag.com/june-2013/2013/6/3/wild-world-tryon-style.html

I'm sure Yusie is glad he won't have to deal with any more "stories"!

I think there's a way to tell the story of your life, including the people you've loved and lost, without getting into the . . . um . . . let's say, private details. I love all history, including the life history of poets, artists, and musicians. I've read quite a few biographies and autobiographies that I thought were well-done. They can tell the truth, as they see it, without it being a salascious "Tell all". Normally P.D. isn't shy about much, so it's interesting that she backed off on her autobiography. She's given several reasons in different interviews for not continuing 1) she said that she wasn't self-disciplined enough to stick with it and 2) it's someone else's story, too, and it's private. I'm thinking the criticism that she received for the Des Barres book plug on Youtube may have influenced her. A lot of her tough girl persona is just a cover. And who knows what else played a factor in her decision - she's got kids, too. Yes, I bet Y. would be pleased. Still counting on a party at your museum when Y. someday tours the U.S!. It will probably be a little difficult for us to rock out, what with our walkers and wheelchairs, but I'm sure we'll give it our best try!
