Joanne, Thank you very, very much for your detailed and very interesting account of your trip to London and the concert. Personally, I love the "long version" when there is a good story to tell and this was definitely a GREAT story!! Thank you so much for all the details! ;D I must admit I was a little worried when you said you had gotten your plane ticket before you had the concert ticket!!!! I am so happy it all worked out and you had the extra treat of seeing the production trailer. It is wonderful that you were able to meet Yusuf and his family. Did Muhammad get that big grin (in the photo) when you told him you liked his album? (I love it too - he is very talented.) It was really thoughtful of you to send flowers to the dressing room. I'll bet Yusuf was pleased! What a magical evening it must have been. The stage and, in fact, the whole room looks amazing in the photos. When you talked with the man who is working with Yusuf, did he tell you anything about the "Moonshadow" musical? It is so nice that you happened to meet up with him and his wife after the show. I thought what you told him about what Cat/Yusuf's songs mean to you was very beautifully said. I feel exactly the same way. It was nice you got to speak to David. Of course, now I am wondering what he said! LOL ! Is he pleased about Yusuf's return to the stage? I imagine he is. I was wondering if Danny Thompson was in the band. Any other musicians we would know of? I guess Jean wasn't there as nobody has mentioned him. Thanks again to everyone who has posted their wonderful accounts and photos of the concert. I just love hearing about this and will welcome anymore tidbits anyone thinks to tell!! If anyone can think of anymore details to tell it will be much appreciated!! Waterside

Thank You Joanne! What a wonderful write up. I really enjoyed reading every bit of it. And so nice of your 'friend' to help you out with a ticket. The concert sounded wonderful, nothing better than a small venue to enjoy Yusufs music.
Also thank you Sue for placing the production van pictures up. Iloved them!

Did Muhammad get that big grin (in the photo) when you told him you liked his album? (I love it too - he is very talented.) LOL No, I think he was just being a bit silly for the camera. When you talked with the man who is working with Yusuf, did he tell you anything about the "Moonshadow" musical? He did say that they've had it in workshops and that things were progressing. We didn't really get into that. When I first approached him to say hello (in the lobby before the show), I mentioned that we'd met back in DC in '04. He said something about that having been before all the difficulty, but I said words to the effect of "let's not go there" (lol) and that we had a wonderful night to look forward to. I was wondering if Danny Thompson was in the band. Any other musicians we would know of? I guess Jean wasn't there as nobody has mentioned him. The only musician I recognized, other than Alun, was John Themis. Also, the same guy who played with him on the Jools Holland show was there on keys, but I don't know his name. No sign of Jean, I'm afraid. -Joanne

Joanne, thank you for your detailed coverage of the concert. Your words were so eloquent. I felt as if I was there sitting with you all. What a beautiful night it must have been for all of you to meet one another from the site. Not to mention all the behind-the-scenes that the BBC gave you access to. Thank you for sharing your beautiful journey and the photos. I hold it close to my heart since I was not able to come. You are truly a very talented graphic artist and photographer. I know that all of us here really appreciate you sharing your experience in such detail. Thank you so much. Peace Mawa.

Waterside When we were all backstage in the room speaking with Yusuf, a man came in and said "So you're a Blues man now then" to which Yusuf laughed. Thanks so much, Cristalina, for telling that little incident. It is so much fun to hear about every aspect! I guess the guy was talking about Yusuf singing How Long/Peace Train Blues. How does the "How Long" part go. There seems to be several songs with that name. Thanks again!

You can check out "How Long Blues" (listed as "How Long Has That Evening Train Been Gone" - Track 19) by Scrapper Blackwell and Leroy Carr here: www.emusic.com/album/10864/10864905.htmlAnd let me just say, Yusuf and his band did it justice and then some. -Joanne

I've just been to the link to read it myself Marie, lol. I must say I'm rather intrigued as to why André Paine's name is misspelt as I copied and pasted it, also the last line should have read "the Cat is definitely back"

Late Friday night of last week was when I first got wind of the gig, via the web. “WTF?” thought I. “What kind of advance notice is this?” Grrr! Joanne, I'm glad I wasn't the only one to feel this way. All the more reason to admire your tenacity and fortitude .. but I also envy your propitiousness as a Cat fan! How can one Cat fan get so lucky so many times in 5 years! I still need to read your entire account... (after I fiinish sulking...)
