I've borrowed the title of this thread from a post on Yusuf's Facebook page last fall. Today being "International Record Store Day", I thought I should share this now.
A couple of weeks before Xmas, I had an interesting experience. I was shopping at our local music store when I came across a new vinyl section. Maybe it wasn't that new and just didn't notice it before. In any case, I started flipping through the LPs that were there, running my fingers across the row of LPs that were side by side (not face up) and noticed an album with a royal blue side. I immediately knew what it was and at that moment I was taken back some 35 years ago or so. I picked up the LP and it was, of course, "Tea For The Tillerman". Seems just like yesterday when I would spent countless hours in the old record shops down in Montreal. It was definitely a good feeling. Well, I bought the album, knowing that it was the "Back To Black" LP re-edition and that it was the gatefold version. I never was able to find the gatefold one back in the day, since I started collecting Cat Stevens' albums only around 1975. By that time, there were no more Tilerman gatefold album.
It took awhile before I could listen to it because my old DUAL turntable was out of commission sort of speak. Considering the somewhat large collection of LP I have, I decided to buy a new turntable and went for a "Pro-Ject Debut Carbon":
Well, it's been a joy listening to old and new LPs on it. The richness of each recording and the sound depth on LPs, well, I had forgotten how nice it is to listen to real records!
And.... I've been surprised to see what is available out there on vinyl. I managed to buy the following:
Cat Stevens - Majikat Special gatefold 180G vinyl
Cat Stevens - TFTT and Mona Bone Jakon from the "Back to Black" re-issues
Yusuf - Roadsinger, beautiful gatefold and large booklet inside.
Alun Davies' Daydo (I found a good used copy).
+ various still sealed Cat Albums I already had but wanted "new" vinyl copies of. It's surprising what you can find on eBay.
Also, the "Analog Production" version of "Tea For The Tillerman" (More on this below).
This remastered version of TFTT by Analog Production has been discussed here before. The LP version is the same used for the SACD:

Both the LP and SACD are fantastic to listen to. There were plans from "Analog Productions" to release Teaser and Catch Bull also. I wrote to them recently and a nice lady replied that the release of both albums had been postponed (it could be a while) but not totally abandoned. Which is good news.
Anyways, that's my rambling for tonight. I know there are vinyl lovers on here, please feel free to add your thoughts on this thread. Especially since now we can expect the next album to be released on vinyl also, thanks to Ale for that info.
(Now I think I'll go put on "Saturnight" and try to imagine myself attending the Bamboozle show at the Montreal Forum exactly 40 years ago tonight! April 19, 1974 - same night Gordon Lightfoot, my other folk music hero, was giving a show at Place-Des-Arts, also in Montreal. It would have been a tough choice!)
