Hi all, I was contacted today by Chris Charlesworth'(remember his excellent biography from 1981?) who'd like to draw your attention to his blog which is very interestingI! Here is his email, Enjoy! Best to all, Chris Hi Majicat folk You might like to draw the attention of your readers to my blog justbackdated.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/cat-stevens-in-jungle.htmlwhich today carries a post about Yusuf which refers to Alun, an old friend whom I will be seeing tonight, and the book I wrote about Steve many years ago. It is my intention to post an extract or two from the book, and also an interview I did for Melody Maker, in the coming week. Regards Chris Charlesworth

Hi all, I was contacted today by Chris Charlesworth'(remember his excellent biography from 1981?) who'd like to draw your attention to his blog which is very interestingI! Super! Thanks Chris for sharing. I left a comment on his blog, here it is: Great blog! I will never forget when I found your fabulous biography in the book section at Sam's the Record Man in downtown Montreal. I would guess the year was 1984 because I bought it at about the same time I bought the "Footsteps in the Dark" LP which came out that year. I remember reading your book cover to cover (well almost) on the bus ride coming back to my suburb. There was so little information about him at that time, so the book was a welcome breathe of fresh air. I'm surprised that Yusuf wouldn't agree to a reprint. That was 10 years ago you say? I think you'd get a different answer today. I believe he mentionned on Facebook not too long ago that he would love to put a biography out. Regards.

I heard from Chris again okay. He said to watch his blog as he has posted a 1970 interview he did with Cat together with a just written intro setting the scene, It was done just before his ‘second’ career took off in the way it did.
Tomorrow and the next day he will be posting extracts from his book, probably the Mike Hurst chapter as that period of his life isn’t so well known.
Best to all,
Chris

Many thanks to you (our excellent moderators) Chris and Charles, for highlighting Chris Charlesworth's classic biography of Cat Stevens and for informing us of Mr. Charlesworth's current, fascinating blog. I, too, was fortunate enough to be able to acquire a copy of the bio-book via an ad that appeared in the back of an issue of "Rolling Stone" magazine (I believe the year was 1987, and I mail ordered to Canada for my copy). That book has remained much treasured for low, these many years. -Bud
