By Yusuf / Cat Stevens "Unfortunately I will not be performing in NYC this time around but I am looking forward to playing for fans in Philadelphia on December 4 and hope to return to NYC at a future date. My fans will understand and I thank them for informing me about the extortionate tickets prices already being listed on some websites. I have been a longtime supporter of paperless tickets to my shows worldwide and avoiding scalpers. Unfortunately NY has a state law that requires all tickets sold for shows in NYC to be paper, enabling them to be bought and sold at inflated prices. I'm sorry about not being able to now play in NYC but hope to find an opportunity that aligns with my support of this issue in the near future, God willing. Looks like the Peace Train is going to arrive at New York a little bit later than expected.” - Yusuf

Thanks, I am relieved. This is my first Yusuf/Cat concert ever (and I am no spring chicken either).
Did anyone else have luck getting a ticket today for one of the shows in the presale?
Good luck for anyone trying tomorrow and again on Saturday with the general sale.
Be diligent and keep on trying no matter what the website says ("High traffic" or whatever). I switched from "Best Available" to balcony and back until something came up.

The shows for the North American tour are ticketless entry. To get in the ticket purchaser must show the credit card they bought the ticket with, along with a government-issued photo ID. The ticket purchaser must enter the venue along with the other person in their party, and at some venues may not be allowed to leave once they have entered.

Hello Majicatters!!!
Just wanted to pop in and say that Massey Hall tonight was like a space ship and lifted off the ground .. The audience applauded when he came out for minutes .... and one guy said what took you 36 years buddy??? everyone applauded more then !!!!!
It was an electrifying concert which included Matt Sweeney as an extra guitarist on the new songs... as you know he had played on the new album .. it was a treat to hear and watch him play and gave Eric a bit of a break too ....
Yusuf closed with 'Miles from Nowhere' it was perfect closing number for North America .. everyone went wild on it !!! He was welcomed like the King that he is !!!!
This definitely is a great welcoming and gearing him for America ... Philly in a few days ... and ... Yusuf was having the time of his life .. !!!!!! Beaming like a spotlight of Peace Love and Music!!
Ok.... Oh and Alun Davies got a standing ovation as he should !!!!!
Night Night!!! xoxoxxoxox Aurarisma

Night Night!!! xoxoxxoxox Aurarisma Hm, do you know the author of this review? brianhassett.com/2014/12/cat-stevens-yusuf-concert-review/Very, very strange article... which begins with: "If you’re a Cat Stevens fan — and you know who you are! — stop reading this. Close the link and go somewhere else. Anywhere. Keep your music and memories intact. Beautiful gardens are too hard to find in this world." It is hard to say that he is a hater of Yusuf / Cat Stevens, but his impressions are very weird... BUT, here is one completely different review: www.thestar.com/entertainment/music/2014/12/02/yusufcat_stevens_overcomes_anger_over_long_lineup_in_triumphant_return.html

Well, it seems that Yusuf shrinks a setlists a bit, if you for example compare one from Massey Hall to ones from London, Brusselles or Vienna.

I wouldn't say the setlist has shrunk much. I was lucky to be able to be at the Massey Hall show, and much to the dismay of the total stranger/new buddy sitting beside me in the first balcony, I was jotting down the setlist during the show. Comparing it to the setlist from the first show in London, I had written down "Peace Train Blues" intro on my list, which they also heard in London. I listed "Maybe There's a World/All You Need is Love" as one entity rather than 2 songs; same with "Foreigner Suite/Heaven~ Where True Love Goes". So if we're counting numbers of songs, some are a "two-for". I was perfectly happy with the setlist in Toronto. Totally. I think for the first show in London he wanted to try out all the songs from the new album to get a feel for how the audience responds to them live. Then he started to change it up, move 'em around, add some songs, take out a few songs. Took some requests along the way. He can't do the impossible, play his entire repertoire from the 60's to today. Not going to play each individual's favorite song. You didn't hear "Into White", I didn't hear "I Want To Live in a Wigwam"... not gonna happen. (And, no, that's not my favorite song, I'm just making a point.)
As for the strange article you referenced above, not sure what that guy's rant was all about. Did he expect Yusuf to grow his hair long and dye it brown and wear his green suede boots? His dissing the band was way off base. How can anyone sit in the 10th row and not see how enthusiastic and versatile a player Kwame is, or recognize that Alun has been Cat/Yusuf's guitar accompanist since the early days, or realize that Eric has been a welcome addition to the band for quite some time now. Dude's not paying attention. Look over to the side of the stage set and give a listen to Pete's keyboard work, and over to the other side where Stefan's laying down the bass lines. Welcome Matt Sweeney to the mix, and give respect to the work he contributed to the new album, which said reviewer said he actually likes. (Do people not read album inserts, nor have an interest in who the players are?) He whines about the wait to get in. I was way back in the line, down the block, around the corner, halfway down that street. It didn't take that long, they were doing the best they can. Security search? Been there, done that at other shows. I waited all my life to see this concert, I can certainly wait another half hour more. It was nice that Yusuf delayed the start of the show so most of the people could get to their seats before he started.
For me it was an awesome show. A cherished memory that'll remain with me forever. Thank you Yusuf, and God bless.

What a night!!!! Philly did not disappoint being the first USA Stop.. christening the tour !! The audience was so dynamic .. Yusuf took some deep breaths in the beginning...you could see him remember ..yes.... this is how it was .. America !! the applause was sooooo much all thru the concert ...they were applauding through parts of the song being so happy to be there and hear him and see him!!! It was so lovingly intense and guess what song he sang?? Katmandu!!! It was a spectacular night a state of perfection !!!! Yusuf talked a lot with the audience and joked quite abit .. especially that it took him 38 years to come back to America touring but he said .. "tonight I was actually waiting for you all " lol (being that the security check and check to get in with credit card took 45 minutes ... so concert didn't start to maybe 845pm ... it was so dynamic and a state of true perfection .. get ready everyone who is going .... its a ride !!! XO

Ahh! Katmandu! That is awesome! I was just thinking about Katmandu. Was scrolling through the facebook comments and some guy had said "Katmandu, I'll be seeing you." I got a kick out of that comment, and thought that was a great "hint" request. I hope that guy was at the concert to hear it.
Glad you had a great time...again! So, Christina, why you no come to Boston? you slacker...just kidding. Safe travels.

Did anyone notice if he was selling his books at the concert? We're flying up to catch the Chicago show on Tuesday, and I'd like to pick one up if I can.

roddie,
I didn't see Yusuf's book for sale in Boston, but since I already own it I was not focused on that. I may have seen it at the Toronto concert but again I'm not sure. I would be prepared for it, just in case they have them available in Chicago. Have a great time at the show, it is truly an awesome and emotional experience. (I've actually seen grown men weep.)

I declared to my wife a few years ago that Yusuf/Cat is the one performer that I would travel anywhere in the US to see if he wasn't going to play a local venue (Prince is a close second), so this is indeed a dream come true. I'm super-excited. r.

roddie,
There's a core of songs that he plays at each show, but he changes the order of the songs and adds different songs to the mix every night.
If you don't see Yusuf's book for sale, purchase the program. It's a nice memento.
