I am a long time fan of Yusuf (or as some of us call him Cat Yusuf... I hope that there is not hard felling because of that  , live in Zagreb (Croatia) where I saw Cat Stevens in concert in 70-ies, and I consider him as my spiritual older brother... but that is not important. There are a thousands of fans like me and you Majicaters and all around the world. I just want to say that I am sorry for any inconvenience because some info about Yusuf's new album was posted on Majicat message board, but this new album's track listing info's went public on Spotify streaming service, so we have to consider it as public. And we are not breaking any copyright by posting track listing which we saw on Spotify (and is still available on Spotify, I checked it few minutes ago), but I do not know how Spotify got that data. So, I fell no guilt, but if you asked me I do not see how posting the track listing can be so problematic that we had to delete thread from Majicat. "Please do not post anything relating to the album except your speculations and your excitement. Sorry about this but this Forum exists to help Yusuf and we must respect his wishes." These are the words of Majicat's admin, and I am not feeling any good about them. After that my enthusiasm to participate on the forum is not the same, because it is some kind of censorship, we have to pretend that we do not know things which we already know or we suppose that they are accurate... I do not like to pretend, nobody does. So, with such requests Yusuf's team is doing harm to this Majicat forum, because we can't act spontanously as before, we have to think what someone in Yusuf's team is thinking as right or wrong, and track listing is not worth that. I'll go to Yusuf's concert in Wienna, I have bought my ticket, and even if I am not reach man I collected 140 EUR for ticket, so that will be my 4th concert (Zagreb, London, Munchen, Wienna) and I would like to feel the joy, and not to be warned "not to post ... except your speculations and your excitement." We are humans and not robots, and we do not need that kind of censorship which is meaningless because we are not sharing music via torennts or other copyrighted material, not even from a recently published !!! Stout's book with his ilustrations for Yusuf's album. And one other thing for admin... communication is not a one way street, so it is not ok to post admin's notice(s) with no ability to answer to them. I did not hawe to open a new thread to write this down! If we want this forum to be alive and healthy and joyable place as it was few years before we can't act as a service of Cat Yusuf's & his team, we have to cooperate, both sides, but to be honest I do not find this cooperation any more. Ok, now there is a huge Cat Yusuf's Facebook fan page, and all communication is going through it, but Majicat was always a big support for Yusuf, and only a few years before there was, for example, a presale of tickets for us, some info's etc. Now we do not have any info from "other side" (maybe owner's of Majicat have!), so all has become one-way communication. In short... I do not want to feel bored here, once it was a very happy and shiny place, can we bring that back? And not to think what is right or wrong to post. Because, will be allowed to us to comment if new record will not be good? Hardly to believe that it will not be good, but just guessing Or can we desagree with any (if any) of Yusuf's public statment? Peace Barney |

CROBARBIE....YES I AGREE WITH YOU...BUT IF YUSUFS MARKETING MACHINE ARE INDEED REFLECTING YUSUFS WISHES THEN PERHAPS HE IS INDEED NOT THE MAN HE ONCE WAS....PERHAPS THE TITLE OF THE ALBUM IS TELLING US THAT....WHAT A SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS..  ..I know how you feel as it happens...yes lets not pretend.... Wishing you all the best....Sabina x furthermore I thought this was a fan site...not here to help Yusuf but to reflect and share in his wonderful voice songs and works...but a PR machine? I think not...so if we don't like the album by any chance  could we not say?....to speak our truth and that is the best help of all........surely..x |

Yes, you made a point... we were always very carefull (and that was right!) while expressing our opinions about a lot of things because we did not want to hurt Yusuf or anybody else, we were also critical sometimes on some of his public matters, statements etc., but all that was due our's respect and love for him. BUT we are not a part of his PR machine which began to dominate in many aspects around the Yusuf, so we become a place of no importance for them, important only when we posted something which PR does not like. And that is a real danger for Majicat forum, to become part of his PR, and not the independant source of supporting fans, and much more... fans who communicate a lot between themselves, a lot of them and not only a few of us. And about Yusuf's PR... it would be better if they for example contact Chris and tell him: "Hey, we are giving 3 examples of Yusuf's new book, can you organize some kind of quiz or anything else and those lucky Majicat winners will get a signed book (or unsigned), or anything else that will show some little respect to this small but long lasting community of very, very suportive fans. Or something else... I will not comment the price of Yusuf's concert tickets etc., it seems that bussines is growing around him... does he support that or not I do not know, but a lot of things have changed, and not all in a positive way. So, new moderators... Chris... just think about all that a little. If you have a link to communicate with Yisuf's side, try to explain them all that. Peace, Barney |

The PR machine gets enough cheap web time on facebook. This is supposed to be a forum to exchange thoughts and opinions, as well as a place to get some information.

Next thing you know they'll be telling me I can't discuss stalking, smooching,  or drooling over....now, how fun would that be? A girl's gotta dream doesn't she?  Ooh, I really hate censorship.  ...You know if Yusie really wants to keep us happy, why can't he leak the information (just to us), then make us promise to be quiet? That sounds fair and we'd all feel special!! Yep that's my plan!  |

Spotify were in error, posting details of the album early by mistake. They are trying to find out how this happened. It also appeared on a few other supplier sites, again in error. These things happen. Let's move on!

However, there was a serious copyright issue infringement and it was entirely possible that things could get way out of hand with the record's producers. Spotify were in error posting details of the album and they, like us have been politely requested to remove the information. I hope you understand. Let's move on! Best to all, Chris the most important thing is the music and that we must patiently await! We mean no harm.....we're just enthusiastic, die-hard fans! Cat Rulz Peace, love and all in fun! And as far as being an optimist.....well, I'm not exactly a spring chicken....I'd like to go to a concert while I can still dance on the seat (well, at least in the aisle)!!! . Guess maybe I oughtta buy 2 tickets so I don't bang into anybody!! Unless, of course, there's somebody willing to join me in my revelry?  . Puuurease! |

I too live in the states. Never saw Cat Stevens in concert, and I'm a few years older than you, so like I say seeing Yusuf perform live is on my bucket list.
But you know, I put my ear to the ground and I can hear that peace train a-comin'.
