Hi,
My name is Luis, from Peru. I'm 51, father of four and husband to only one.
I was introduced to Cat Stevens at a very young age in 1970 by my mom and dad, and an uncle of mine (mom's brother), all of whom are pretty much alive today and still as lovingly young at heart as they were 44 years ago.
I was 7 when I first listened to Peace Train on my dad's stereo. Both him and my mom had borrowed Teaser and the Firecat album from my uncle Peter, who looked very much like Cat himself back then as he does today.
Many years followed as I acquired a variety of musical tastes -leaning mostly on the prog-rock side, I must say-, went through college, marriage, parenthood and a number of jobs to provide an income for the home, and without realizing it, I became older, albeit not wiser, and after all this time I feel as if I never really transcended that early stage in my life.
All that I truly am has been packed at childhood, and Cat Stevens has never left me since age seven, in good times and bad. He remains a solid foundation of my mind and soul, and I cannot find enough words to express my gratitude to him for that, for keeping me company, for being an inspiration.
Last night I compiled a Cat Stevens 25-song playlist on my itunes, adeptly named "Cat's Shuffle". It had been a while since I last listened him. It brought tears to my eyes. Brought back so many memories...
So I searched and found this place to let this out. Sorry for this long post, but I just had to let it out. Thank you for bearing with me to this point.
Thank you, Cat, Yusuf. Thanks mom, dad, and uncle Peter.
Love to all, always.

Hello Luis. A very warm welcome to Majicat. I hope that you'll find many new friends here. What a wonderful post. That's exactly what this site is all about. Do research the parent site to this forum, Majicat.com if you haven't already. We all here found Cat Stevens' music speaking o us as if it was created solely for each one of us. For that reason Cat's music became the soundtrack of my life, as indeed it has for so many other people. I've visited your country a couple of times and it's just such a wonderful place both for wildlife and culturally. Enjoy this Forum and the wonderful music of this remarkable man. Welcome again, Chris
