Somehow even though the recent album is all so fab, each song lovely for different reasons, I absolutely LOVE Cat and Dog Trap, it is poignant beyond words..and Yusufs heart- singing of it is exquisite(and no I am not being OTT here..I mean it!)...I like it for the same reasons I like All Kinds of Roses...just saying as I feel that this song sometimes is given a back seat by reviwers somehow..so I give it the fullest of marks and who cares if I am not a recognised authority...no musical background, no technical or musical wordplay...just I think it needed a friend to big it up...

Blossom, I have read several reviews that have mentioned Cat&the Dog Trap as one of the highlights of the album and I wholeheartedly agree, that's the song that speaks to me at the most emotional level. And the singing and harmonies are just exquisite.

'Yusuf’s voice was a perfectly preserved specimen for the duration of the evening. It’s strength somewhat diminished by time, but its resonance and emotion deepening with every performance. A deft pairing of the old and the new displaying this current vocal approach found Cat Stevens first single ‘I Love My Dog’ given a jazzy reading before followed with 2014’s ‘Cat and the Dog Trap’, in my opinion the most beautiful song both lyrically and instrumentally on the new LP.'

The Yusuf/Cat Stevens Peace Train Pulls Into Boston December 15, 2014 By Stephen Lewis Thanks for posting this. I was eagerly awaiting Stephen Lewis' review, knowing that he attended the concert. I love reading his stuff. Here is the full review: upstatelive.com/2014/12/15/the-yusufcat-stevens-peace-train-pulls-into-boston/(PS: I sent him a response to correct him on the bassist's first name. I'm sure it was just a typo; maybe he can edit it.)... and he did so. Thanks Stephen!

I agree. I think some of these songs are "sleepers" that become more beloved with repeated listening. Another one is "Doors". I was listening to Yusuf's live performance of "Doors" today, I think it was from the NPR "tinydesk" performance, and the song has such beautiful lyrics.
