Last week through a trade I got hold of a couple of Cat's bootleg recordings. ;D One of them is really puzzling me. It is called "Where do the Children Play?" and contains 17 tracks. They are the 11 songs from Tea for the Tillerman" and 6 songs from Back to Earth. All are alternate studio-recordings. By the sound of it (and the instruments that were used) all recordings originate from the late '70's. Did cat really re-record the TFTT-album, or is it the work of some creative soul, who happens to be handy doing overdubs in the studio? I searched all over the net to find more information on this disc without success. Also artwork for the cd can not be found. (By me at least ) Any help or comments would be highly appreciated.

I have it, I got if off of Ebay and it has the same tracks on it. Only it is called "Cat Stevens' Greatest Hits" and has different photos on it, photos I have never seen before. One or two of them are displayed at Peacetrain. I figured that someone took the original recordings and remastered them with added instruments. It is almost an overkill affect because it has too many instruments. Mine was 'recorded in Spain'.

Thanks for all your help. I found out that it was produced by Paul Samwell Smith; they are alternate mixes of his studio recordings, with additional instruments such as a drum machine or keyboard overdubbed onto them. It was not an official release and Cat Stevens had nothing to do with it. The "Where do the children play" - cd was a German release from 1990. BTW, I bought the "Miles from nowhere"-version of this disc, a Spanish release off E-Bay, thanks for the tip ;D, along with the remastered version of "Back to Earth" which I still did not buy on cd.
Thanks again,
