Well, I was the one who alerted Shirley to the item! Now, she hasn't answered me, yet, but I do know she has bought things off E BAY in the past as gifts for Yusuf and his family!! I KNOW she will LOVE the idea!!

The main goal I think is getting this very personal item to Yusuf's family. I've heard that someone has contacted MOL to get a message to Yusuf or his family that this item is for sale. Well, one way or another, we will get that gift for Yusuf! If not one of us, who will give it to Yusuf's family, then, hopefully, someone in his family will see it and nab it as well! This wonderful gift should definately be in his family!!

I went and had a look at the item. That's so sweet what Yusuf wrote!
I wonder what he meant by the word "appropriate" next to 'Daytime' ? That's one of my favorite songs! Probably number 2 or 3 on my list.

Now that would be a trip in a half! We bid against Yusuf, then present it to him as a gift! I can just imagine the expression on his face! Whoever delivers this treasure, I expect photos of the occasion! And if I am the one who delivers it, I will get photos as well! But first, we must make sure we get it! Do we know for sure that babyhowdy is indeed Shirley, and if so that she will give the item to Yusuf's family? If we aren't sure, perhaps we shouldn't speculate. And if it is Shirley, and she decides to keep the item for herself we should respect her decision, don't you all think? Yes, it would be great for Yusuf's family to have it, but Shirley would be the one shelling out the money.
If it is Shirley and she is interested in returning the item to Yusuf and would like our help in acquiring it, that might be something we could all participate in. I would certainly be willing to chip in. Has anyone actually heard from her?
Just some food for thought in consideration for Shirley's feelings.

Yeah I know Vivian, that Shirley is Girlhowdy . And I thought that perhaps she might be Babyhowdy. I guess I was just wondering if she has told anyone here that she is purchasing it for Yusuf. From what I know of Shirley from the messages board, giving the item to Yusuf certainly seems like something she would do. I guess I was just saying we shouldn't say what she'll do it unless we know for sure. If she's buying to give to Yusuf, wonderful. Well, no, she hasn't come out and said it! But I know she has purchased memorabilia in the past and gave it to Yusuf! And I alerted this to her, through her E MAIL, So, I am sure, even though she hasn't responded to me, yet, she feels the same! MAYBE she is waiting till the final bid, as not to be jinxed, so to speak! If she is the winning bidder, I am PRETTY SURE she will want Yusuf to have it!

here is your update on this item... confirming Vivian's post above.
Ok, the high bidder at this time is one of us, Shirley aka Girlhowdy aka Babyhowdy, and I have told her that whatever the high bid gets to, she has our backing... so go for it!
We also need to be certain that we are not bidding against someone from Br Yusuf's biological extended family. I had to qualify myself there, since if I have 10,000 relatives by marriage, Br Yusuf has 'I don't know how many' million Amis in his extended family.
I have also contacted Bri to let him know what is going on and since I/we haven't heard from him, I am guessing that the baby has arrived and he's just too busy to bother with eBay at this time.
Once the dust settles, we will sort out the mechanics of getting and paying for the album, OK? We've still got a day or so to go before the auction closes.
I'll keep you posted and it's been a pleasure serving you.

As far as being related, you know, God made all of us from one soul...ie, He didn't use a different soul for Eve... We are all family in the family of man. Sorry Vivian, I don't think that you could convince Br Yusuf that you are close enough of a relative to hug him. Besides, wouldn't you want to be his cousin? My husband introduced me to many married couples back home in this way, "This is my cousin Mohammad and this is my cousin Huda." *wink wink*
Actually I did reflexively pat Br Yusuf on his arm while chatting after my Shahada and in the company of those scholars. It was one of those Merrill Lynch commercial moments... you know, where everything stops for a second, we all take a deep breath and then resume.
Since Muslims do not look at the opposite sex in the eyes out of respect and Br Yusuf was sitting next to me, it was pretty difficult not to giggle, since he kept looking down at the table and then glancing at me out of the corner of his eyes. My Shahada was probably one of the least solemn ones on record.
But I digress....
