Greetings, all! The dust has settled and we were outbid in the last 5 seconds, leaving no time to rebid. It was like a bolt out of the blue, leaving us breathless. Two of us were on the phone together during the last 20 minutes to discuss strategy with my daughter refreshing the eBay site every couple of minutes/seconds! The final amount was scarily high anyway -- $736.00 The upshot is that I immediately contacted the high bidder to find out who they are and offered to purchase the note and/or booklet separately in a private transaction. We didn't really need the album and I thought that we would probably auction it off for charity or something anyway. It is my opinion that the album and note/booklet are 2 separate pieces anyway, since it would stand to reason that Br Yusuf would have signed it all 'Yusuf Islam' at that time. So I will continue to keep you updated as to what transpires... I asked Bri to let us know when his baby arrives, since it feels like we know him... Don't put away your pennies yet! Thanks to all that have helped with this endeavor. And Allah knows best! Peace to all, kareema

That's a great idea, Kareema! It was that note that made this gift so very precious! If we could get that and present it to Yusuf, it would be fantastic!! Please let us know!

Greetings all,
It is my thought that perhaps some of us have CS signed LPs, etc in our possession... you know, ones that were purchased off eBay, etc... not those with sentimental value.
If so, would any of you wish offer these items to the auction winner as an incentive to allow us to have the Hasanah note/booklet only?
Actually any signed LP, etc will do, since collectors usually turn these items around anyway.
Once again, your confidentiality will be strictly preserved and we can use the same avenue for making us aware of what you have.
Since we were going to pony up anyway, perhaps collectors' items might sweeten the pot.
You can reach me at searchforcentreofuniverse@yahoo.com or PM at the message boards.
And Allah knows best.
May we all find peace, kareema

Hello all! ;D SO sorry to have been outbid today! What happened was this: last night I was unable to access my ISP, so finally had to give up about 1a.m., since I had to report for work ALL DAY today. The SOONEST I was able to get back on the net was when I was FINALLY able to come home(after 3p.m.)and of course with the eight-hour difference in time(England being 8-hours AHEAD of MY time in California)this was AFTER the FINAL hour I could bid on the item! I have notified the successful bidder, and offered TWO options: 1. I can offer to pay him MORE than what his successful final bid was(we will have to both AGREE on an amount as we negotiate) 2. I can offer to swap him for OTHER desirable Cat-related memorabilia(example:Majikat 1976 North American Tour poster, signed posters, Teaser & The Firecat children's book...hell, I'll even offer him my copy of the KORAN Yusuf signed for me...whatever it takes). THE reason I DO believe I will hear from him is that I believe only a PROFESSIONAL COLLECTOR would be willing to invest THAT much money to acquire such items(with the exception of us MES AMIS,LOL)! Likely, the successful bidder is the owner of a record/memorabilia store, possibly even someone the seller personally KNOWS(I have known THAT to happen MORE than once on E-bay:the seller having a friend/associate online to help run the price UP in those last precious minutes)! I will let everyone know just as soon as I hear from this "mystery buyer". THANKS again to EVERYONE HERE for helping me in this VERY worthy endeavor! ;D Hugs to ALL! Shirley A.K.A. You know, I brought this up to Vivian at the US site and am going to run this by y'all.
In the event that something happens and the item can't be acquired, do you think that maybe we can make a joint donation to Small Kindness. We could make the donation in Hasana's name and help some needy children as well. Hey, it is a thought that I figured I would run by y'all.
Love, A'isha

Hello all! ;D ...hell, I'll even offer him my copy of the KORAN Yusuf signed for me...whatever it takes). Shirley... don't do THAT! The Qur'an that Yusuf signed for you at U.C.L.A? No, no, no, no, no.... Just my opinion.... :-)

Excellente idea, A'isha, for sure...
We already had our wallets out anyway...
Does Small Kindness let you sponsor kids?
Or ! flash of intelligent thought! what if we bought play equipment with a plaque that said "Where do the children play?"
Yikes, I see I am speaking Californian in this post.
May we all find peace, kareema

I love the idea of sponcering a child! There are some organizations here in the states that do just that! One sponcers a child from a war torn country and donates for that one child! They sort of become penpals and develop a bond! Letters are exchanged as well as photographs and monthly progress reports! What better way to help MILLIONS of impoverished children! If EVERY SINGLE PERSON would pick one child, more if they wish, and donate to that one child, MILLIONS would be taken care of! And I think this could turn into one of THE MOST REWARDING friendships ever!! Maybe someone can suggest this to Yusuf!!
Peace,Vivian
