I am compiling a list of radio stations that either play Cat Stevens songs or have the right format. Please help me by sending me the radio stations near you that do either of the above. I need the call letters, dial position and town the station is located in so the list will be informative! Please pm the information or send it to my email address. Thanks! Sue

Hey great idea Susie!! Except I got nothing for you...haven't heard a CS song on the radio since ummm...1976 probably!! I did e-mail a few stations about a year ago and still - nothing. I don't get it ... how many thousands of classic rock songs are there and these stations still have such a limited playlist!! I mean, don't get me wrong...I really like Eric Clapton, but they would play the same song the same time of day. I finally just gave up!! Looking forward to the list anyway. -jen (Cat-less in NY)

Jen, If you could tell me any stations in your area that have the right format, their call letters, dial location and town of origin, that's all I need. Thanks, Sue

Hey Sue, This is a GREAT idea, I really don't listen to the radio much, but I'll send you a few station in the area. My old favorite radio station which was 92.5, switched formats a year or so ago to an all new songs and did away with the oldies format. So if you think I was sad, I was. But not as sad as my cousin who was the morning DJ at 92.5, he lost his job!! Fortunately he was very popular in the area and his listeners followed him to his new radio station, which was another oldies format but on AM instead of FM. Oh and another thing, my place of work has purchased 2 new 4 track tapes for the muzak type player to filter through the restaurant. Between the 2 tapes I bet there are 6 or 7 Cat Stevens songs. I know they play : Oh Very Young Sitting Moonshadow Peace Train Wild World Morning Has Broken I think they also play Father and Son and Lady D'Arbanville. So now I can enjoy Cats music while I am work. Pretty Cool eh?

That's great you're able to listen to Cat at work!!! And I know what you mean about radio station format changes. That's one of the things that will have to be tracked if the playlist thing can stay current. I have to say even if a local radio station doesn't play Cat, but has the right format, that's what we need too. Just wanted to remind everyone of that. Sue

Christine, I was SO bummed when they changed 92.5's format - I always knew I was "home" when I flipped to that station. What they play now on that station - ptoooey! And I'm so sorry that Fred lost his job (that IS your cousin, right?). We also had a station here that played some really great '70's and '80's oldies, but they, too, changed to the same kind of format as 92.5 has now - also yucky! Now I just listen to my CDs...

Jan isn't it sad when radio stations change formats? I use to listen to WONE from Akron, I loved that radio station, then one day out of the blue it went country on me!! It took me quite a while to locate another radio station I enjoyed listening to. Thats when I switched to WKDD and 92.5, it wasn't as nice as WONE, but much better than country.. then it went hip, LOL...
You can't win with those radio station, you know this post kind of reminds me of a certain episode on WKRP in Cincinnati where they change their format and fired Johnny Fever!!
Anyway.... Sue check out WMIX (WHBC) 94.1 out of Canton Ohio..

Sue, have you check out this site?... It may be a help to you, it has a list of every radio station in Ohio. They are listed by the type of radio station I.E. oldies, talk, rock, country. When you are finished with Ohio, you can do a state by state search of other radio stations. I hope this will help you in your search. newslink.org/ohradi.html

Here is another website that list all the radio stations in the US. But it isn't as nice as the link on my post up above. Because the one above, actually send you to each radio stations' website, so you can write to them. As well as list them by type of radio station. This one only list the radio stations call letters and dial number.. But here it is anyway. www.usradio.net/

Thanks for the links! I will check them out. We've done that with other sites that list stations and have found the lists are outdated. As you said, format changes happen so often, it's hard to keep up with them, let alone keep a list updated. Some of the radio station lists are two years old. Part of what we are trying to do, is after we have our list generated, is have people help keep the list current. It's been a challenge so far, but fun! We've got 13 stations for the list so far. Please, keep them coming!!! -Sue-

Sue, you and I are lucky here in the Tampa area. I hear Cat several times a week on 107.3 The Bay. I've never spoken to a nicer Program Director than Annie Sommers. I was astounded when that station responded to my e-mails almost right away.
